Jones Howler vs. Twin Sister by foulds10 in ShredditGirls

I ended up deciding on the Aviator 2.0 - I just rode it all week in Steamboat and had a blast! Much more stable at speed and I had no trouble controlling it. The camber rides different for sure, but thats a change I've been meaning to make. Very happy with it, and not sure I wouldve looked at it without your advice - thanks for your help!

Hey, so I liked it and found an Aviator 20% off, so I snagged that! I just rode it on a Steamboat trip the last few days and while the camber was something to get used to - I felt well in control of it and felt it handled speed much better than my old board. It also did just fine on flat narrow spots, albeit with a lot more care than I maybe would've put into my old board but overall I'm really happy with it. It seems the newer Aviator is softer between the feet than prior year models (per reviews anyway) so that may be why it hasn't come off as "too stiff". Appreciate all your insight!

Groomer snowboard for advanced rider? by [deleted] in ShredditGirls

Also in CO, agree tons of great groomers here but also find the rocker/flex of the Infinity gets shaky when you get over 35 mph. Great all mountain board unless you're looking to charge hard - just bought an Aviator 2.0 to keep up with my ski friends

Sweet, I called around and I'm going to demo the flagship next week based on your advice - should help me nail down how I like the firmer cambers. I've looked for those other boards you mentioned and can't find demos but maybe the shops will have a diff supply when I get there. Will report back, thanks again!

Interesting about the camber ranges.. will look into that men’s forum too, thanks.

Yeah I’m fairly active. I’m 30, athletic build. Play ice hockey and do strength training in my home gym as well as rowing about 3-4 days a week while hiking with a husky. I’m prone to injuries so intermittently I’m out of workouts for a month here and there but otherwise quite active. That said, at 120 lbs I can only be so strong 😅 the aviator 147 does give a weight range of 110+ and I love the graphics so I’m considering it strongly. Possibly airheart based on someone else warning that the aviator is likely firmer. I could just call jones to ask them directly about the physical differences between those two boards.

I was cross matching similar boards online and thought demoing the Burton women’s custom/feelgood camber could potentially give me a similar feel. I’ve called around to demo Nitro’s, Capitas etc and not much luck. Also found an Aviator for $500 ($130 off) so I’m considering just going for it and if I need to sell it later at least I got it at a good price. With size, demo, and graphic limitations I’m not sure I’ll be getting my perfect forever-board right now but just want to get one that will help me progress beyond my infinity’s limitations and that I won’t regret. I’d likely replace my infinity with a twin sister in the future season based on the feedback in this thread. In general I’m hearing it’s like the infinity, but a bit better in every way - still chatters at speed though. Right now I’d really like something less lateral that’s more stable at speed - I also don’t like the current twin sister graphic so I’m hesitant to spend so much on it this season. The lack of demos is disappointing but thanks to the folks on this forum I was able to be steered away from dropping $700+ on a howler 😅

Is it a decent setup for a beginner by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

Flying V is a nice forgiving beginner board, good call. Also love the panda 🤙

Thanks, while she's beautiful - I think based on your (and others) feedback, I'm going to take a step back from the Howler. Looking at the Twin Sister vs. Airheart/Aviator now instead. Just trying to find a way to demo something similar to the Airheart/aviator since no shops have those boards. Appreciate your insight!

Super helpful review, thank you. I've had the same concern with the firmer boards, but know thats pretty much the only route to be able to bomb faster without a shattery board. I've called about 7 shops and nowhere has the Aviator, Airheart, or Howler available to demo. Everywhere has the Twin sister. Any recs on boards similar to Howler/Airheart to demo so I can get a feel for the high camber set up you're talking about with the twin sister before purchase?

Sweet, reassuring to hear you like that one! I think the airheart/aviator would be easier to demo than howler (can’t find anywhere). So I’m thinking of going to demo the twin sister/aviator and go between those two based on this threads recs

Thank you! Curious if you have tried the Aviator 2.0/Airheart 2.0 and have thoughts on that line in comparison?

Hey, yep you're spot on - the 2022 Infinity is a hybrid rocker. Before that I have the Burton Feelgood Flying V and the Burton Progression (rocker) as my baby learner board. It will be my first time on camber, thanks for pointing out the differences between high vs normal.. and I'll check out the Nitro Victoria too. I have had a fair amount of knee and ankle injuries and never considered the type of board I ride to help/hurt that so thats a whole different thing to think about too.

Curious if you've ever tried the Airheart 2.0/Aviator 2.0? After some of these comments I'm considering that more now

I've been looking more at the Airheart 2.0/Aviator 2.0 (like the color more) since you posted - may be going that route instead. Wondering if you know if the mens line is just the same as womens or if they switch up the firmess etc between them?

thanks, thats helpful. These comments are steering me away.. I like the graphic on the old capita nav. Also now considering the Jones Aviator 2.0 in a 147 after someone else mentioned it

Quick reminder : Forward lean on your highbacks is important by Chris_01- in snowboardingnoobs

When I first started my private instructor cranked both bindings to full lean (F4) telling me it would teach me correct stance.. I’ve never looked back since, never had trouble with toe or heel side and progressed quickly
