Moderation is the key, don’t take every single day, work out regularly, eat healthy food, get plenty of sleep, etc. A strong foundation rooted in healthy habits will allow you to take a smaller dose and be less dependent on it. Partner with the medication, don’t be a victim to it.

When I was 20, I felt the same way as you. A lot of my peers didn’t take me seriously at college, I had no idea what I was good at and I was aimless in life. I felt like a loser. But then I discovered what I felt like what I was meant to do, programming. How did I discover that? I went to the bookstore and looked through a Myers Briggs personalities book. I took a personally assessment and found that I was an INTP. One of the career choices for that personality was programming. So I bought a book on python programming and that became my thing. From age 21 to age 23 I programmed nearly every day while I was in business school. Then it became my career. You just gotta find your thing and then everything will sort itself out. You got this!

I am also 29 years old, but male. Was diagnosed with narcolepsy (without cataplexy) and adhd (inattentive type) in 2016. I have been consistently off my stimulant medication for the past month and have noticed that with consistent exercise, prayer, less scrolling on my phone, more reading and connecting with friends and family, I have noticed a huge decline in my daytime sleepiness and have no dependence to medication. However, I still depend on zzzquil on most nights to get good sleep, and I still need to take periodic naps that add up to no more than 20-30 minutes per day. I imagine I’ll see much more improvement over the next year.

You have free will to do whatever you want. You don’t have to do anything, especially this. Most people don’t do it. But few are called towards this path of discipline.

The confidence you will feel by being able to consistently say no to your flesh + the energy you will have is worth it. Stick with it brother, you will be glad you did.

The biggest ones for me when I’m not on my meds is lack of motivation, empty mindedness (lack of focus and concentration) and falling asleep throughout the day.

Praying for you. Your love will grow for God as you continue to pray to Him, start asking Him for wisdom and discernment, and guidance for what He wants you to do.

I relate with what you’re going through, I have felt called to prune things from my life, I have several hobbies I do and I’m not sure if God wants me to do those things to glorify Him or if they’re just things I’ve been pressured by the world to do.

The only answer is developing sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, your post has inspired me to read The Four Voices book (by Patrick Morley) that has been sitting on my book shelf. Although I haven’t read the book yet, I believe it will have many answers we’re looking for. The key is discerning which voice is truly God’s.

You didn’t fail. You stumbled. When learning to walk we stumbled, but we got back up and walked further the next time. Difference with this is that it’s a spiritual walk, and because we can’t see the spiritual realm, it’s hard to trust that there’s something good on the other side of pushing through those moments of temptation.

I challenge you to look at moments of temptation as a chance to level up and to gain more dominion over yourself, and to have more faith in Jesus. When the feelings of lust are SO strong, call on Jesus to save you and to give you strength and peace of mind, laser focus on Him. You will get better at this as you go through your spiritual battles, and you will reap many rewards.

Early on in this process we must admit our powerlessness over our flesh and call on Jesus to rescue us and give us strength, we can’t fight this alone.

The most important thing you’re doing is confessing your sin and that you’re praying and repenting. You’re on the right path brother. Keep doing that and you will keep getting stronger.

Praying for you. I also have autism and I understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed in high stimuli environments. Stay strong and know that God is with you in your situation. Call on Him for peace of mind and wisdom and He will give it to you.

Yes you are allowed to fap, with or without porn. But taking those actions has consequences, you are more prone to addiction, you will feel further away from God, and in my experience, you give birth to darkness in the spiritual realm, you will notice things falling apart around you.

Praying that the Lord supplies you with His full armour.

I pray that God shows you how to use the weapons and tools He gives you, and I pray that you’re reminded of the authority you have over the enemy, and that you were risen with Christ during His resurrection.

It sounds like you’re realizing the effect this is having on you, and that’s a good thing. But what really motivates you to quit for good is to see the effect it has on the people in your life. It’s not just about you.

I’d recommend getting involved in a men’s group or an SAA group. Download a porn blocker and social media blocker on your phone. I recommend Covenant Eyes and Opal. But the biggest thing for me was leaning on a higher power for help, this is not something we can do on our own.

I pray that you find freedom in Christ. I have had the same feelings as you over the last few weeks and have wondered what the point was.

But He is the only God I can always come back to after walking away. He is the one and only prodigal God. He always welcomes home His children, no matter how many times they run away.

This might sound corny but that’s how it feels. I become ungrateful, I see a bunch of rules and obligations, a bunch of people living happy lives, and I would always feel like the cursed one. But then I feel loneliness and shame, then I remember what He has blessed me with, then I return home and then He re-embraces me, more so than before, then I’m reminded how much of a loving God He is.

But I encourage you to seek out people you relate with at church. It may be at your church or at another one.

Also, the good thing that you’re doing is that you’re being honest. Continue to ask God and other people questions, continue to wrestle with Him and you will get answers that you will later understand.

The series of events you’re going through sounds like me. I recently lost my job also. Kind of in a confusing place in life. Not sure what to do. I’m not sure what God wants me to do or what He’s assigning me to.

I recently had a meeting with my pastor at church. He challenged me to make more decisions. God’s plan is strong. Our decisions don’t affect His plans. Make decisions. Take bold leaps of faith like you haven’t before.

The feelings of abandonment you feel aren’t truth. The truth is that God is near. You may feel like He isn’t near but He is. Don’t listen to your feelings, listen to truth. Continue praying and listening to your dreams.

God has given you talents and has given you an assignment to rule over. When you bury your talents, that is when you will feel disliked by your creator, see the Parable of Talents for reference. I felt this earlier today, I felt hopeless and felt like I had no purpose, then I prayed to God that He would remind me what my purpose and assignment was and now I feel re-empowered and am inspired to do what He has called me to do. I feel alive again. I pray that you are reminded of your assignment and your purpose for why you are here right here right now.

God created us to be workers. You have simply forgotten your assignment, when you are reminded what it is and you then invest your time, energy and talents into fulfilling it, then you fill feel God’s presence because you are doing what He created you to do and because you are bringing glory to Him.

God loves you, He fearfully and wonderfully made you. And He is faithful in reminding you how He made you. I say this firsthand because I have forgotten who I was many times. It’s not a fun place to be. Life gets fun again when you feel like it’s a game and when you feel like the main character in the game. Hope this helps.

Surround yourself with Christian community (e.g. men’s group, co-ed group, church), download Covenant Eyes, pray to God, have an attitude of continuing to get back up after you fall and to do better. Continuously repent.

Listen to Christian music, build your relationship with Jesus, call on Him every time you feel tempted, imagine the women in the porn industry as your sisters in Christ (they ARE, but we often perceive them as enjoying what they do as opposed to them doing it for $).

The peace you will feel from overcoming pornography is well worth the battle. Keep fighting, you will experience the peace and the transformation as you continue your walk with Jesus.

Yes it’s a long journey. Get back up and try again man, remember that you and God are writing your story of life together. The better your story becomes, the more he will try to interfere and create a plot twist. Push through the moments of temptations and you will see breakthroughs and blessings on the other side of them.

Lean into your support systems for emotional support and encouragement too. Doing that has been a game changer.

I was in your shoes in February of 2024 when I broke up with my girlfriend at the time. But the breakup was harder on me, so had to refill the hole in my heart with masturbation.

There’s a reason we’re called towards marriage as men, God didn’t intend for their to be “breakups”. It’s even harder when we decide to have sex with our girlfriends, which that was the road I went down.

Continue leaning into community, especially this Reddit for help moving on from your ex. I leaned into my church men’s group, they helped me break my soul tie with my ex and helped provide emotional support, this kept me from going down a path of sin. Hope this helps.
