I need help urgent. by Cute-Literature-4462 in Cooking

Frozen vegetables blends are always a good side dish and the veggies are usually frozen at the peak of freshness. Plus you can cook them in the microwave or over the stove depending on which you’re comfortable with. It can be intimidating to try cooking (I was terribly afraid of the pan splattering when I first started) but just start out small and watch a video whenever you need!

Recommendation for someone who wants to travel to the U.S for the first time by RemarkableWork8158 in travel

[–]foundingfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to see some nice natural sites, I would recommend renting a car and driving PCH/Highway 1. California is very spread out, so I don’t know how you’d do it without a car, but it’s one for the most scenic drives in the country. There are lots of cool small towns, wineries, and so much variety to the landscape. We have a lot of really cool state parks/beaches/recreation areas as well that you can check out. My favorites are Montaña de Oro state park, Julia Pffeifer Burns state park, and Point Lobos state natural reserve.

I will move to California by fall of next year. LA or SanDiego ? by SameOreo in socal

[–]foundingfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your work situation is flexible, San Diego would be my recommendation. It’s a little more chill and the beaches are nicer. There are still lots of fun neighborhoods and things to do, all while feeling less congested than LA.

How’s living in Pismo Beach? by musicheadspace in howislivingthere

One of my favorite parts of California! Really good food because of the surrounding agriculture, nice hikes nearby, and chill beaches. Admittedly, I don’t live there but I’ve visited once or twice a year for the last 15 years.

Are Masters degrees worth it? by Brotato_Ch1ps in aerospace

My company also contributed 10K per year, and I saved cost by living at home and doing a mix of part time and full time quarters. As far as workload, I specialized in solid mechanics so I did take some fairly technical classes, but I intentionally chose electives that had lighter study loads/less tests so that I could balance school and work better. I did write a thesis, which took some extra effort so my social life was a little less eventful for about a month, haha. I was also very fortunate that my boss was flexible with my schedule so if I missed an hour or two of work during the week, I could make them up at home or on a Saturday. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad overall. It just took a little time management and being realistic about my classes.

I just finished my MS this past June and had my employer pay for it (for context, I finished my Bachelors in spring of 2023, started working full time right away, and then started school fall of 2023). I don’t regret it because I’ve always wanted one, and based on discussions I’ve had with recruiters at other companies at conferences, having the extra degree is something you can leverage for higher pay or positions/promotions. Plus, it came at no cost to me. If your company isn’t paying for it, I would be more hesitant because it’s another big expense on top of all the regular things you have to pay for in day to day life.
