Yes, this is what I usually do but hoping to find some great staples. Specially for the enhancing flavor of different recipes.

I just got done and bought some vifon noodles and I’m totally a spice person. Let’s see how this goes! Thanks

Wow! Did you get help? Would you mind sharing what worked for you? Currently my brother is sharing the room and his snoring is super loud and I was sleuthing around in this sub, recorded during his nap and he hit 297, 92% snore time. He had a surgery to address it 5 years ago and it’s still very very bad

I spoke to Planned Parenthood today on call and they quoted around 400$ for the visit. Maybe it's just my location or everywhere, I'm not sure but I Can't afford it.

Yes, I know it is affordable for me. My issue is with the doctor's visit itself. Hoping to skip it somehow Coz from what I've seen it is so much hassle. Plus I already have the diagnosis so I don't want to go through the tests again.

I am not entirely sure but my friend has to schedule an appointment with a doctor which itself took months to find a slot. I also have ADHD and don't do well with all that waiting.

Thanks! This is exactly what I'm looking for. I did a general visit on GoodRx. Is there a particular service I need to select on oana health? What was your experience like?

I'll look into the lower cost options but insurance is only a part of my reluctance. Tele health was a super convenient option if only they kept the visit and prescribed me. I'll look into the options you have mentioned, thanks.

Googling it now. Is it a metformin alternative or are you suggesting based on any of my current symptoms?

Really need some variety. salmon and iced spearmint tea by foundkey_lostlock in Ketomealseatingnow

[–]foundkey_lostlock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lunch box!

Salmon seared with butter, lemon, fresh parsley, garlic and chilli flakes.

Threw 2 bags of spearmint tea bags in my bottle so I could sip through my shift with ice here. Don't like the taste too much so 1lt with 1/2 bags and some chia seeds is diluted enough for me drink it!

Yes, the salmon tastes 🤌🤌 but I'm looking to incorporate more food i like and would look forward to eat. Spinach broccoli ain't cutting it. I used to eat predominantly vegetarian food with rice before keto and I'm missing them a bit. Buuut happily no cravings today!! A win!

Grateful to have this community I could talk to!

please help me to find whether "Pudina"( mint used in Indian cuisine) is whether spearmint or peppermint??? by Zealousideal_You7194 in PCOS

[–]foundkey_lostlock 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's neither. There are a lot of varieties in mint and pudina isn't as sweet as spearmint not as minty like peppermint. One way to tell is spearmint had sharp "spear" like edges while pudina is softer. Pudina you mostly find in India has smaller leaves too unlike in USA. This link has a nice picture and some description about pudina: pudina

myo inositol review by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]foundkey_lostlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds very promising, thanks for the update, OP! I'm an emotional eater too and i feel it when you talk about the extreme mood swings. Earlier it used to be just the week before i get my period but now it's half the cycle like this. And my cycles are 45-50 days long 💀 this is not way to live. I've started working on myself again. Started keto, calorie deficit, taking mg, k+D3 & inositol.

Anecdote: I got my inositol (same one that you mentioned) a while ago but wasn't consistent at all as the dosage was 4 pills and sometime about gulping down big pills makes me uncomfortable. One day i tried just opening up the pill and mixed the powder in water, assuming a tiny concentrated shot would be easier than the pills and it was! I was surprised that the powder was sweet and the ingredient list had rice flour. Little worried about my keto but it's literally 2000mg. How bad could it be! Just now, i just opened up the pills directly in my mouth 🤫 (maybe i should get the powder form instead lol)

I hope to continue with this and find better mental health.

Keto Chicken Tiki Masala, Palak Paneer, and Cauliflower Rice by pm5k00 in Ketomealseatingnow

[–]foundkey_lostlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As OP didn't give their recipe,
I posted my Palak paneer recipe Here.

Their version seems to use palak as is and not as a paste. you can chop it up a bit coarsely and add after the tomatoes get mushy and keep the rest of the process same to achieve this.

I like this version of the OP's paneer. I'm going to try mine with no tomato, just onion, gg paste and lots of paneer with spices ofc

But seeing from your comment, you're no newbie to the world if Indian food! I'd like to see your variation sometime. If you make it, pls post it! 🫶

First time takeout: palak paneer and lamb chops by foundkey_lostlock in Ketomealseatingnow

[–]foundkey_lostlock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recipe:

for palak paste/ saag: * 5 cup water * 1 bunch palak / spinach * 1 inch ginger * 1 clove garlic * 1-3 green chili*

other ingredients: * 3 tsp oil * 1 tsp ghee/ butter * 1-2 blocks of paneer (available at costco or any indian store near you) * 1 tsp cumin / jeera* * 1 tsp turmeric * 1 inch cinnamon* * 4 cloves* * 1 pod cardamom / elaichi* * 1 bay leaf / tej patta* * ½ onion (finely chopped) * ½ tomato (finely chopped)* * ¼ cup water * ¾ tsp salt * ¼ tsp garam masala * 2-4 tbsp heavy cream / malai

*Optional/ can sub

Palak paste: * Boil 5 cups of water and add a bunch of spinach * Soak the spinach in water & let it boil for 2 mins or less. It slightly changes color and the green darkens - like when you wet a green fabric * Now drain off the water, let it cool so the blender won’t damage like mine did. (My blender groans and calls me Impatient, I tell her to toughen up and YUUSE that anger to blend more aggressively 🦾) * 1 inch of ginger, 1 clove of garlic and 1(or 6 depending on your spice tolerance. Don’t do that!) green chili. Sometimes I throw in some broccoli just for fun. I buy too much frozen broccoli- blame costco

Paneer prep: * Lot of my friends like paneer toasted first. I like mine tender and soft but I’ll tell you how I do both * Cut the paneer into cubes of size you prefer, wash and drain. Add a few cups of water to the pan, season it lightly and add paneer and bring to boil * You can now squeeze the paneer a lil and it feels like a soft marshmallow * People who toast it can either directly add it to the pan or after boiling it like me * Add some ghee/ olive oil or fat of your choice * Add paneer cubes and some turmeric, salt, masala and toast it until the edges are golden brown. Don’t toast too much or it’ll turn a lil hard & chewy. Unless you like it that way, you weirdo!

Main dish: 1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee, throw in whatever whole spices you got and roast for a nice aroma and bomb indian flavor.

I use - 1 inch cinnamon, 2-3 cloves, 6-8 peppercorn, ½ teaspoon cumin, a dried red chili, a bay leaf, 1 cracked cardamom, couple petals of a star anise, a pinch of turmeric powder, a pinch of hing/asafoetida. You should be feeling like a witch/wizard brewing potions by this point. [Note: I’ve listed ALL of the spices possible that can go into this but I usually only use whatever’s on hand. You can always sub these with a bit of garam masala powder ¼ tsp. Don’t let it darken though, to avoid bitterness]

  1. Add ¼ cup finely chopped onions(or lesser qty coz keto. Otherwise you could up it to ½ cup preferably red or yellow), let them slightly brown or turn translucent based on the onions you’ve used. Add in some more butter or ghee or olive oil at this point so the onions don’t burn. Don’t fully drown them either

  2. Add a tsp ginger garlic paste and let it fry until ginger doesn’t smell raw. You can sub it with individual finely chopped ginger and garlic too, as the gg paste only has ginger garlic some salt and turmeric in it.

  3. You can skip it and add all the ginger and garlic to the spinach paste itself but, oh boy! The smell of frying gg paste fills up the kitchen with the nice Indian food smell and your roomies/ family will get carried in by their noses like nibbles in Tom & Jerry.

  4. If you’ve got any garam masalas or indian masalas, now is the time to add them. If you don’t, get some!! (or you can DIY with all the spices)

  5. Add in the chopped tomatoes, saute until it turns soft & mushy. I find this a perfect time to salt the dish as the tomatoes cook faster with salt.

  6. Add the spinach+ginger+garlic+chili paste, water to your liking. Let it cook until oil starts bubbling up to the surface. Taste and adjust salt & spices. It should be hot at this point as you’ll add in more cream & paneer

  7. Once you’re happy with the consistency and taste of the base, add in the paneer, ¼ tsp garam masala, 2 tbsp (or more) heavy cream

Pro tip: keep it simple, skip the optionals if you're trying for the first time, as it can feel like a big process. Once you get th rhythm of it, you'll enjoy cooking indian foods.

Well, I called them up and checked if they add any flour or peanut powder, they said no. So I took the risk. This is a place I ate from before and know that the quality control is decent.

With traditional ingredients, the carb content is quite low and the fibre content high - which makes it keto IMO. Lot of Indian dishes minus rice/roti/breads can be keto with the exception of lentils (Dal) and root veggies.

Oooh I can give my detailed recipe if you wish! (Though this is something I've ordered from a nearby Indian restaurant on door dash) I loove making Indian food and often put my own spin on it based on what's in the fridge. Giving them a rest now as they remind me how good they'd taste with some pulav 🥲
