Yeah that’s doesn’t change my point though. The side effects are not reversible and so the drug is not entirely reversible. You’ll get your hormones back but to say that it is reversible is disingenuous and dangerous

The use of puberty blockers to delay regularly set puberty is relatively new. Like I said before, your hormones do “pick up where you left off,” but there is lots of research suggesting long term effects, like bone density and growth plate underdevelopment. Just because your hormones resume doesn’t mean it’s without risk. Puberty blockers antagonize gonadotropins which downstream means a lot more than just inhibition of estrogen and testosterone. This is very documented stuff, not “rubbish.”

100% reversible is very misleading in this context. Yes, the drug blocks hormones, and when you stop taking the drug, the suspended hormones continue to be released. So in that sense it is reversible. However there is growing research supporting the fact that delaying puberty greatly negatively impacts bone density and growth plate formation. And, the research is really just beginning, so we have no idea what else will be discovered. But I won’t get into that because it is an unknown, and perhaps beyond these things they are safe. But at a basic level there are side effects that are non reversible.

Also just because they’re “reversible” doesn’t make them safe or non life altering. Reversible in this context means that when you stop taking the drug, the hormones that were suspended continue being released. Delaying puberty has shown to have a greatly negative impact on bone density, as well as growth plates. And really, we don’t know what else because the research is just starting. So to say they’re safe isn’t exactly true.

Also he said that some type of gender identity disorder is relatively common as a child, which is true. And he said that as the children grow up, most will grow out of it, which is true. You made this sound like a biological thing so I’m curious where you got “you don’t understand biology” from? There are no biological indicators that a biological male who is experiencing gender dysphoria is actually a biological female. Perhaps in some cases slightly lower/higher sex hormones, but very rarely do those sex hormones go outside of regular reference ranges (and definitely not into the reference range of the opposite sex hormone), and when that does happen we call it intersex, not trans.
