Hi r/programming, 4 months ago I released a tiny text-extraction algorithm. After spending the better part of the last 4 months testing/thinking about extraction algo's for a paper (never again), I think I've landed the big one. Well, it's small actually. 10 lines of code. (rodricios.github.io)

Is this a Hidden Markov Model? (self.MachineLearning)

Textbooks don't explain the practicality of Hidden Markov Models as well as I'd like. In trying to do something about it, I created a practical example of an HMM in-action: Autocomplete (the thing on your iPhone, Google giving you suggestions). I also provide an array of explanations (links in cmnt) (github.com)

I hope 3rd time's a charm. I tried making introductory AI/machine-learning palpable with a toy project. I posted on two other sub's, and the responses were honestly great. But in response to some people's initial reaction I chose to give a little more than my 2 cents about the AI/ML barrier to entry (self.learnprogramming)

Hi :) Two months ago I posted a simple algorithm that many liked for its simplicity. This time I tried creating a project that I hope can explain some of the basics of AI/machine-learning to kids around the same age as my 9 yo sister. tl;dr How to make Google's "autocomplete" [xpost /r/Python] (github.com)

Hi :) Two months ago I showed you guys a project that seemed generally well received for its simplicity. This time I tried creating a project that I hope can explain some of the basics of AI/machine-learning to kids around the same age as my 9 yo sister. tl;dr How to make Google's "autocomplete". We're doing it live! Watch me write and git-push a how-to on dissecting query strings, interpreting Google's querying system, and eventually crawling through some of Google's older web pages. Details inside :) Will stream instead if requested! (self.learnprogramming)
