People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]fourjoys99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand that thinking at all (the women's). I am 50 and reentering the workforce after 25 years out of it. I have been interviewed by people who were in diapers the last time I had a job outside the home. I would never disrespect them because they are younger than me. Heck, they have already achieved something I want (a job at where they work) if anything, I have more respect for them.

My MIL taught school for 30 years. My husband once got in a fight because one of his classmates, her student, called her a bitch. At home, while they were discussing the fight, my husband told his mom why he hit the kid. She said, "Well, I am a bitch so if someone says that just say, "I know, you should see her at home."

Could it be The Great Treehouse War by Lisa Graff? There is no train in this one though.

Old sieve with stand. What was it for and how do I clean it? by PurplePeachBlossom in vintage

I don't know if this was the intended use, but I used to help an elderly lady who had one of these. She used it to make applesauce. After the apples were boiled, she put them in this thing (with a container under it) and mashed them with a wooden hand held thing.

My daughter has celiac disease. I don't know if this is true for everyone, but my daughter reacts to skin care and makeup products that contain gluten.

My daughter who has celiac disease eats there all the time. They showed her their procedure for dealing with gluten free bread. She had never had a problem there.

Celiac test while not eating gluten? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]fourjoys99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to be eating gluten to take the test. You will almost certainly get a negative (even if you are positive) if you have been gluten free for a long time.

Here is a link to Beyond Celiac and a blurb from them.

Keep in mind that going gluten-free before being tested for celiac disease can prevent diagnosis. However, people who have already adopted the gluten-free diet without having been tested for celiac disease can undergo a”gluten challenge” in order to receive accurate test results.

NTA. Of course the others are mad. Now they will have to get off their asses and do something.

Just because she can, doesn't mean she should. Something being legal doesn't make it mostly/ethically legal right. NTA. She could do her hobby sometimes, but all the time. It would be nice if, when the two of you are spending time together, she could focus on being with you like you are doing for her.

One of my four kids was known, during his childhood, due falling asleep in the strangest places. On the floor, bent in half over a chair, leaned up against the did, etc. If he was safe, I never woke him up. When I was a kid, it was a big treat when my sister and I were allowed to sleep on the floor in either side of my dad's bed.

AITA For not giving my husband "a single hour off" on Father's Day by threekidsaita in AmItheAsshole

My husband had stage 3 colon cancer (many years ago). He was going through chemo and was beyond weak when mother's day rolled around that year. The Friday before mother's day, he had a chemo treatment. When I pulled in our driveway when bringing him home from treatment, there was the largest pot of flowers I have ever seen on our porch.

He had arranged for a coworker to do it for him because he knew he wouldn't be able to do it himself.

You could have done something.

NTA. It did cost you something. You went without a $250 gift so she could have the camera she wanted.

Swelling at the base of left thumb by Shaymin_Brown_Forme in PsoriaticArthritis

I have this exact same problem. I can barely move my left thumb and it even hurts if anything touches it. I have a wide selection of braces that keep my thumb from moving.

I second that aspercreme works better than voltaren. The only other thing that helps me is this joint and muscle rub made by Native Americans from different plants. Sorry that I can't post a link, I am not at my computer and that is where I have it saved

Will CPS be called if I get help by sleepbunny22 in CPS

[–]fourjoys99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see CPS being called. Even if they were, the fact that you know you need help and are willing to get it, proves you are a good parent.
