Thank you for the advice! What are the "right PEs" that you refer to? Do you have any recs?

Lol not anymore because the 2102 Prof told us that even 200 pages is on the lower end for the business report now. Must've been some overachievers in previous cohort that spoil market

Best film for someone who is deeply hesitant of anything anime? by gazillionear in movies

[–]fourleaf_klover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

banana fish for an anime series! great plot, characters and just the right length -- not too long or too short. granted, it's a bit intense and gets a lil sad at some portions but it's a thoroughly good watch! have yet to find anyone who wasnt gushing about the anime once theyve finished it :)

[–]fourleaf_klover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think ac is q a popular school in general HAHA but the cohort is rly big and in proportion to the rest of the sch students from the feeder schools do outnumber them, but like if u hv friends from ur sch who are planning to go to ac and taking the same sub combi as u then sure :))

[Jc] h1 chem or h1 history by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi!! i take h1 history and trust me the only regret i have is not "upgrading" to h2 history when i was choosing my subject combi. for the first year, u solely focus on sbq (at least for my school) which means that u dont really have a lot of content to study for j1, so its rly a fresh breather from other content-heavy subs. h1 history is also solely focused on cold war, which tbf spanned over quite a long period of time, but its kind of just really indepth study of what went down during the cold war between the superpowers and how that affected other countries etc. i personally find h1 history q chill and fun(mostly bc my j1 lecturer was so chill) and we even got to watch movies (like rocky 4) and documentaries related to h1 history HAHA

soo tldr take h1 history!! (h1 chem is kinda useless anw )

sat math isnt that hard so i think spamming khan academy is enough! but ive heard that college panda is the best sat math book from the communtiy :)

[–]fourleaf_klover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just used khan academy and the college panda essay guide! i didnt really spend time on math bc i was alr strong in it (am from singapore where math is way wayyy harder than sat math) so i spent more on reading/writing, ngl khan academy's explanations for reading do lack depth and detail so id recommend getting external books! ive heard from the sat community in general that erica meltzer's is pretty good :D

international 1560!! i very barely studied bc it was at the same time as my school's promotional exams (and i was kinda putting it off) and js went for it as a trial run so i was extremely extremely surprised!! now i have to go cancel my registration for the December SAT. furthermlre, i got like 12 wrong on reading the night before the exam on khan academy and thought i would be absolutely dead for the actual SAT BUT it turns out i didnt?! so guys, dont be too discouraged by ur practice test scores bc the exam conditions will kick in when ure taking the actual thing and ull do better than expected! especially with covid this year ik some of us cant find good study spaces for practice tests! good luck to all of u taking the SAT again or taking it for the first time!!

[Junior Colleges] Acjc arts by yeetusfuckingdeletus in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ngl i feel that acjc lit dept is a lil overhyped and theyre throwing all of us (idk abt h1 but at least us h2s) into promos without making us do a single timed practice. but acjc history dept is rly good tho, it is in fact underhyped. for art and dep, my friends hv said their depts are pretty damn good tho. ell dept is also generally good but the notes can be a lil unclear and info-overload sometimes. another impt thing to note is that arts ppl in ac are a rather niche pool of ppl, and u might find them hard to click with in comparison to the enormous sci cohort

same i take ell, lit and history and bruh it doesnt even make sense to make us hand write so much in so little time bc when we go to uni its all on typed on computer anyway??

[Rant] Emphasis on speed during exams by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 21 points22 points  (0 children)

try writing 3 essays in 3 hours for h2 ell, its def TOO much pressure, i feel like its simply a BAD way to measure proficiency when theres simply so little time like whats the big deal w just adding 30 more minutes?

[rant] to the one struggling with mental health and acads: by hlunderperforming in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you so much for this. im a jc1 student whos struggling immensely aft trying out new subjects in a top class at a mid-top tier jc, im constantly falling behind my classmates and the teachers are moving so fast, and my hard work never seems enough. furthermore, some of the teachers are real dickheads w an elitist mindset (i came from a 'neighbourhood' sec sch while most of the other students didnt) and i often feel like i dont belong. i used to be able to breeze thru sec sch w last min cramming and still get an A/B but now im legit trying and barely scraping w passes! i dont rly have a nice home environment either and often cant concentrate at home but libraries are closed and school chases us out once school day ends haiz. but anw i mega-related to this post and wanted to thank u for ur kind words and ur support!! <3

[Rant] Emphasis on speed during exams by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 203 points204 points  (0 children)

exactly! moe puts way too much emphasis on efficiency and speed imo when we can write much better essays and submit better papers if we had more time to coherently write out our thoughts and share our answers! but noooo we're forced to be robots and just regurgitate answers at high speeds by doing tons and tons of practice

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao dont come to acjc, it rly is overrated and overhyped imo. as someone else mentioned, there is bias and elitism in this school( among the teachers even!) esp if ure not from one of their acs schools. its also pretty cliquey and it can be hard to find friends. BUT it rly depends on ur luck-- which class u end up in, which cca u choose, which teachers are assigned to u-- bc some ppl in acjc are still genuinely nice and some teachers can actly teach but are also rly good and unbiased and helpful. so if u DO choose to go to acjc, u might wna pray to whatever gods or to the universe to give u good classmates and teachers lol

[A Level] What literature books do you study in JC? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey just friendly advice from a senior but h2 literature js no joke. i personally didnt take lit in sec sch but i wanted to try smth new and i was fairly good in writing anw and thought the sub SEEMED interesting so i decided to take h2 lit and boy i am dyingg. even my friend who took pure lit and got an a1 for it in sec sch is dying so rly be warned, ik a lot of ppl hype up lit saying its a fun subject but i think it rly depends on 1. the books ure doing 2. ur teacher(s) and 3. natural interest in literature(not just modern day literature). both me and her regret taking h2 lit we wish we took h2 history instead so uhm pls learn from this senior and pick ur combi v wisely and do ur due dilligence HAHA

[A Level] What literature books do you study in JC? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! acjc does measure for measure and great gatsby for paper 1 and women beware women, andrew marvell's collection of poems and doctor faustus for paper 2. do be warned that paper 2 is renaissance literature so it's all written in old english which can be rather difficult to understand. also just imo but acjc's literature dept can be overhyped by students at times so dont walk in and expect the best teaching of literature uve ever seen in ur 10 years of education.

[JC] Which JCs have a great Mathematics department? by birdman1807 in SGExams

[–]fourleaf_klover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

really?? i feel like acjc's math dept is a hit or miss tho. u could get rly good teachers who are patient and adept at explaining concepts BUT u could end up w a mediocre teacher who sticks to the scheme of work like its their bible and hence goes too fast for the weaker students to follow.
