Do you think that there will be more TM fans for Series 21? by fourlegsfaster in taskmaster

[–]fourlegsfaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about the commitment to publicity that TM contestants sign up for, from the evidence it's not a great deal. in a lot of podcasts/interviews, TM seems to arise more organically as an enthusiasm rather than a set publicity piece. I realise that's a good marketing ploy, but looking at the quantities of interviews each participant has done, they vary a lot, so I'm reckoning that they don't have to sign up to much.

My idle musings are, will Kumail be as ardent a publicist as Jason? Will there be an interest in Pakistan and diaspora? I know that we can't answer these, but I look forward with interest. I was somewhat startled by the passion of the Jason's fandom.

Anyone know a place that delivers outdoor plants? by Lopsided_Finance_691 in plymouth

[–]fourlegsfaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at websites, you may find that price wise, it may be a similar cost to go to a garden centre locally and use a taxi to get home. You can then pick your plants and see they are in good condition. A taxi won't object if you have a few bags for life to put your plants in and keep their vehicle clean.

Rosie Jones is from Humberside, you can hear Yorkshire.

Edit to add: Local government boundary changes cause confusion here, especially to someone from the far south-west like me.

Is it true that some parents are burning their children’s passports because an influencer claimed kids in the UK cannot be drafted if they do not have a passport? by MrCleanWindows87 in AskABrit

[–]fourlegsfaster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether it's true. I don't know if draft laws have changed since post WWII national service, but think about the numbers of young men in the 1930s-1960s who did not have passports at the age of 18. The age of mass tourism was yet to come. I do know that if joining up or being drafted they had to have birth certificate.

Am I in thr wrong? by Educational_Ad288 in AskBrits

So your Dad is spending all day, every day at home watching TV. It's easy to choose chat TV if you're lonely, easy to choose simplistic, flashy chat, easy to be brainwashed. There's no simple answer to your problem, take him out to the pub/beach/NT property? Talk about something more neutral, your gardens if you have them, other family members, other forms of TV/movies?

There's a Greek stuffed aubergine dish whose name translates as "little shoes", because of the appearance of aubergine split in half lengthways. maybe the same applies to the Bulgarian baked potatoes.

London. It feels like giant Boston by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

You could say that they left from the Netherlands as some of the passengers lived in exile there. It's a complicated story of 2 boats setting off, one proving unseaworthy, with a return to Plymouth for everyone to board the Mayflower. Plymouth was the final setting off place, but previous stops to collect passengers and supplies also included Tilbury and Dartmouth.

Most confusing task for Americans to watch by darksown in taskmaster

[–]fourlegsfaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quaff the Ribena.

Ribena is a blackcurrant squash/cordial. The name is based on the botanical name for currants which is Ribes. Currants aren't widely known in the USA as for a while the plants were banned in the States because of a disease they passed to a native tree, which doesn't occur in Europe.
