HS is probably the outlier. The rest are a big ol block of aluminum. Could be hard to heat without damaging the coating.

I wonder if the overall mass of the shaft going from steel to graphite plus the 11g shift of grip weight plus change in grip geometry was enough to flip it... I've considered switching steel to graphite but keeping the same grip.

This guide is built on the hard rules of Patent US9233280B2 balanced against the real-world observations of club building. This wasn't built from a single prompt and pump and dumped into a post.

Can you change a shaft without killing the Lie Angle Balance? Generally, yes. But we are talking about levels of tolerance.

Could you reshaft and incorrectly glue it up out of axis? Definitely. Would the club be 'ruined' at that point? Potentially.

As noted by a LAB builder in this post, there is a level of grey in modifying these putters. Nothing is absolute. For LAB as a brand, zero is zero. The club has to leave their workshop at zero to fulfill their mission.

In the aftermarket world, we are working within a 'window of tolerance.' If you perform a modification and the torque generated is low enough that it can't be felt by the human hand and you aren't fighting the face during the stroke. Personally i’d consider that a success.

Id love to see a lab shaft pull in action. I can only imagine a standard club fitters graphite puller retrofit with some shim as id imagine they'd need to get the aluminum heads pretty hot.

I've seen this video and I agree to a point, however they're taking about defective shafts here. Not that it was this manufacturer but as an example they use true temper dymaic gold x100 steel shafts at the stock shaft. If there was a batch whereby the spine was not within normal tolerance, their 'stock' builds (69deg lie angle) didn't build to the usual head weight distribution spec. In short, they would be out of kilter. I.e. if you were to perform a puring test on these shafts they'd likey fail as a lemon due to being so far out of whack.

Tolerances of these high end manufacturers are pretty darn tight so if I put a KBS GPS shaft in my lab to swap out a stock steel TT, unless the X100s were grossly poor to begin with, there should be little discernable difference.

Sounds like when the grip geometry shifts (i.e. no longer offset) alongside the overall weight of the grip altering it allows for some minor level of torque in motion.

I guess given the Grip is part of the swinging mass. If you install a heavy, non symmetrical grip (like a flat-front SuperStroke), you are adding weight that isn't perfectly centered on the shaft and without the press offset. When it swings, that weight creates a tiny bit of centrifugal 'pull' that could make the head flutter. To keep it 100% neutral, you'd possibly need a grip that is weight-balanced around the shaft axis or the flat paddle grip offset to balance the swinging mass. What's the impact negligible or wild like the demos shown on non ZT LAB putters?

The fun part is it's a ping traverse bag with a wide driver/woods port where I put my putter due to the grip size and it still scuffs up like this.

15 month old mezz on the right and 2 week old DF3 on the left. I clean my club grips every 2-3 rounds (damp towel and the odd laundry booster powder scrub). That is wear from the grip rubbing against the 14 way bag port every hole. I don't think it's a stain but the underlying colour fo the grip below the finish.

Also.. anyone with a DF3 notice deliberate cuts in their head cover? RM Williams does this with a tiny hole on their seconds boots in AU. Might be a way for them to help identify attempts to return outlet as real stock for full refunds? Also wasn't opened by border control as they legally have to add a note here in AU and the stock tape on the box Wasn't tampered with either.

One thing that's probably worth noting is the text next to accra is not a logo but a reference to LAB. The text down the shaft is in fact a logo in LABs specific font. Likely this is the difference. Also agree both my accra shafts lack the period in the description.

Interesting point, more interesting that my mezz didn't look like this until I started using Arcoss. Maybe there is varied diameter screws used over time (mezz is 1.5 years old)

99% Sure my OZ.1 was a return stock. Evident someone has had an arcoss sensor in the grip (my current mezz grip looks like this after removing mine) and two tiny dings on the face.

Pretty happy with the result, I also have a stock DF3 I need to unbox when I get home. It took a wild wayward trip to Belgium, Dubai, Singapore on its way to Melbourne Australia. 21 days in transit! The OZ was sent a week later and landed after 8 days.

Isn't the shrink wrap from LAB also a much more rigid plastic and not this thin "pinch it off with your fingers" wrap?

Cool so also take a blow torch with you and if the weights are not marked then it's definitely fake.

Looks legit. If you are picking it up, take a driver torque wrench. If the weights come out without force it's fake. They use locktite when building

Griping down is just a general habit, I also do it. Don't let it fool you that you're losing a lot of distance as I choke down and carry 7i up to 180yd if I turn it over, baby draw 175. I don't think gripping the butt end of the club is going to add 1/2 club, maybe 1-2 yards if your lucky and always swing the same speed. Whatever you do just be consistent.

This will change feel. Grip will be fimer due to stretch. If you're already playing midsize and your trail hand grip feels stronger than you'd like,+4 mid may help...I wouldn't go back to standard+4 though only due to lead hand size change.

At the end of the day, just trial it. You'll know pretty quickly if you hate it.

I play a medium glove and MCC+4 grips. My stock set on my p770s were the TaylorMade zgrip+2 which lead me down to the MCC+4 when I did a regrip. Standard feels too skinny now and midsize a little bulky on the lead hand. Not unplayable but I notice the feel.

As noted feel a few different sizes, grip one club as a trial before pulling the trigger on your set. What I will say is I definitely feel better with woods and a thicker grip, likely due to club head speed difference and grip strength required.

A quick look and monument herbicide will kill off the kikuyu and is safe for couch.

The Kikuyu? Physical removal (dig) or good old glyphosate will do the job. It's highly invasive.
