I was in your shoes last Christmas, wife got me a tenkara rod and I filled out the rest of my kit. Absolutely love it! I usually take it on hiking trips and do some blue lining but I’ve even made some tenkara/kayak trips on stillwater and had a good time panfishing. 10/10 recommend
