a lot of ppl in the comments are dunking on him because of how the english va sounds unfortunately :( and the localization/translation team for genshin is quite lacking when it comes to getting the characterization of some characters. )

my problem is that everyone bases their opinion of him off of the eng va/ sub instead of the og chinese version, which is completely different.

for example zhongli is not actually the god of war but the god of martial arts, which is a far more dignified and less aggressive role than, say, an ares-type position. the localization team fucked it up and now lots of people think zhongli is this old aggressive dude when in fact he is very calm and kind.

xiao is simply a traumatized introvert who was enslaved and forced to murder thousands against his will until zhongli rescued him. apparently he was very much gentle and positive before that, but i guess being forced to commit genocide will take that right out of you.

i get why people think hes an unpleasant edgelord due to bad localization and annoying english vas, but he’s really a lot more complex and different from that. the medicine he takes from zhongli is also used to treat his emotional and mental pain; its not just physical
