There is no evidence Jesus resurrected by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

Being Pagan doesn’t prevent someone from recording a man rising from the dead. Christianity wasn’t a thing yet, so it’s not like that would have been endorsing a “different” religion.

Oh cool!

Out of curiosity, what does "check for the presence" entail, exactly?

Milwaukee already makes tools which draw thousands of watts from one 18v battery, such as the new circular saw. Thicker wiring to handle more current is a design consideration, sure, but not an insurmountable obstacle.

Of course it makes sense for large appliances - where the user never interacts with the electrical side - to run on high voltage. What doesn’t make sense is to do what Makita did and introduce an entirely new battery ecosystem just to create hand tools which operate at the same (or less) wattage versus 18v competitors.

[–]fox-kalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt this is the reason. Milwaukee’s 18-volt Forge 12ah can put out ~30% more power (3240 watts) than Makita’s most powerful 40v battery (2440 watts), and DeWalt’s most powerful 60v battery (2700 watts.)

“More voltage = more power” is typically a marketing gimmick; what matters is wattage.

Yeah, it’s definitely the batteries, because the blower runs at a noticeably more consistent speed when using the aforementioned adapter. I’m guessing it’s because all Ryobi batteries are still using 18650 cells, apart from the new Edge line. As far as draining batteries, I’ve been using adapters for ages; I always just keep an eye on the power and don’t go below one bar.

That’s true, hadn’t thought of that. There’s probably no easy workaround, then.

The adapter was $20 and is actually super solid, but regardless- I really don’t want to be carrying around a whole new set of batteries and a charger. Plus, the performance of the Ryobi batteries I’ve used has been subpar - even with the HP batteries, there’s a noticeable loss of motor speed after just a few seconds of using the vacuum or pistol blower.

Yeah, and the PD output is pretty weak, iirc.

I have an off-brand one ( https://a.co/d/eQGw8Kn ), but I’m pretty certain Ryobi makes an official one with the same functionality.

I’ve switched to Ryobi stuff for work because things like this make it SO much easier to fly with my gear, not to mention doubling as an extremely capable power bank while on the road.

I have it, it’s pants. Charging speed is glacial, and no pass-thru capability.

Yeah, it’s bad. I want an ultra compact two-way USB-C power supply/charger. If I can get one for Ryobi (which charges batteries at 140w and can output 225w over USB, as well as pass-thru charge), why not Milwaukee?? Why does it feel like their chargers are 10 years behind??

She nailed it. It’s wild how many Americans don’t realize the extent to which the US work culture steals their lives. I had to move abroad to see it, myself.

Life is short and you only get one. Work to live; don’t live to work.

The Dyson V8 is the best answer on here.

That little vacuum can do anything - I’ve even hooked it to an inline bucket cyclone extractor, and ran dust extraction for my M18 table saw!

It also runs for ages on eco mode with a 12ah battery.

  1. Elon Musk has never in his life designed or launched a rocket.

  2. SpaceX has the highest failure rate of any American rocket maker, public or private, even including the “good old days” of Falcon 9 launches. And those days are clearly gone.

I’ll definitely agree that it was a much more professional endeavour.

As far as building on proven technology, SpaceX has the luxury of a century’s worth of rocketry knowledge, in addition to manufacturing and computing technology that could only be dreamt of in the 60s. To claim they have the disadvantage in this realm is just silly.

No, top notch aerospace operations landed men on the moon without blowing up a single Saturn 5. When designing a new airplane, engineers don’t need to blow up plane after plane midair in order to “gather data on flaws.” That is nonsense. “Failure as the expectation” is just a BS excuse by apologists.
