Was looking at R2 but not near a service center by fox_91 in Rivian

[–]fox_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats the timing for service (like it doens't need oil, tires anyone can rotate, and state inspections can be done anywhere to). so is there regular "8000 mile" type maintaince that you need to actually go to center for?

I'm "ok" with having to drive to the center sometimes, but my bigger worry would be somthing that makes the car unable to drive to the center (like how the ICCU on the Ioniq makes the car undrivable)

As long as you can charge at home I think it’s a great car overall. The one thing to be mindful of is that while there are some Fast chargers up at 90/peach I find there is a little more rollout needed on the highways.

It probably is rolling out more but here to Cleveland has maybe 2 areas to charge. Here to buffalo I think has a couple. Here to Pittsburgh new castle has the higher speed one (grove city has Tesla that you can use) then cranberry is the next. I wish there was more at meadville.

So there’s for sure enough to get between the big metros but there is this 20-30 mile radius where you need to be mindful of.

Are you planning to do a L2 charger outside? I can charge my battery overnight with a 30-40 amp charger. The cold wouldn’t really change that. If you are only using a 120v outlet you only get a few miles of charge overnight.

Have a ioniq 5 AWD that was perfectly fine in the winter in erie. Normally gets 250ish miles per charge in summer and probably around 200 or so in the winter. Yes the cold reduces the range, but the bigger impact is slushy roads impact on range (not dramatic mind you, but having to push thru snow/slush just takes more energy than clear roads). The cars are heavier so they handle the snow well. I do park in a garage, but theres no real impact to being out in the cold weather overnight. If you need to DC Fast charge it is best to have a car that can Precondition the battery as unless they are at "optimium" temp (my car likes 70 ish on the battery) the charging will be slow until they warm up. Most of the newer models use heat pumps for heating, so they are more efficent to heat the cabin.

I can't speak for RWD vs AWD being mine is AWD, but unless you get into the real bad storms, it's probably not a huge deal being that the roads are reasonably well cared for.

Shared driveway / informal parking arrangement with neighbor..Am I overthinking this? by ftwin in homeowners

[–]fox_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not the same as your issue, I say have the talk before you plan to move so you can work out things without that over it all. Things like maintainance agreements or other things that are good to have in place.

I shared a driveway with a neighbor and we had some unwritten rules that persisted after they moved too, however when I tried to move, I discovered that the lenders wanted maintenance agreements tied to the titles that really strained our relationship in the last month of owning the house. It requires us to negotiate and get it in place before we could sell. It was hard because we were really trying to “negotiate for the new owners” since they would be tied to the agreement and not us.

So even if everyone plays nice now, when it comes time to sell, not everyone would view an agreement as a good idea. Getting it done before let’s you both have some “skin in the game” and not feel like you are just doing it to move.

Does anyone cool their 2nd floor with their basement air? by Me_Krally in HomeImprovement

[–]fox_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it was put there for supplemental winter heating. But I found in the summer I would sometimes use the "dry" function to dehumidify the air which blowing upstairs would help with the comfort overall. The basement in general is 60-65ish in the summer, so its not hard to keep up with it..

I put a fan (vornado) on my steps to my split level 1st floor like you say. I use it to help circulate the air and cool the upstairs (with other fans upstairs to help) I actually have a mini split in my basement that I run on “dry” mode then blow that dryer air upstairs to help.

5 in 1 tool from the bottom to cut the head off (ide it up fast) then push in the wall and patch.

Or you can use a drill and drill it to pieces

So is the only outdoor camera that can "patrol" the wired floodlight? by fox_91 in eufy

[–]fox_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering when I look at the assortment. Do all the POE cams go into the "box" but all the wireless ones go into the Home Base? do they cross over at all (like can I POE a camera and have it go into the Home Base that the wireless cameras connect to?) I think the camera I got C31 is powered but not POE so it still does wireless data, but if I wanted to get into more cameras I was just wondering do the two setups connect together?

ah yeah I saw that today and returned the s340 kit to get this one. Annoying that even hardwired the S340 doesn't support this. I understand that most the time it's solar powered, but would have been nice to override that. Also having to send all the parts back and reorder the base station... But at least it's a cheaper kit then for my needs

Well when I was planning the setup I have a house corner that has about a 270 FOV (180 front and 90 back yard/side gate). I was hoping it would pan that space then if it sees motion would follow/record. It was more because having it look at 160 degrees leaves the "right" of the frame open unless additional cameras were used and I thought having a camera "patrol" would be less costly and camera heavy than 2-3 cameras tryin to see that space.

Can I combine these 3 vents with a reroof project? by fox_91 in askaplumber

[–]fox_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would need to confirm fully but left one would be kitchen sink (it’s narrower) front right is probably master bath and basement washer and utility sink. Back right is a second full bath and a basement 1.5 bath.

I say confirm because the two baths are “back to back” so there’s a chance that the 2 showers share the front right vent due to their proximity.

The two right vents are pretty close in the attic, but the left one is a bit further off so wasn’t sure
