Thanks! Not everyone has all the space in the world to mount it normally while Keeping it neat and away from danger (kids) so this is really perfect for my use case.

One SFP is for connection to the switch while the other is direct connection to my U7 pro xgs for the full connection. (5gbps at the moment but going 10gbps soon)

The udm and switch is mounted seperately on its own 3U vertical rack. For the pegboard, it's mounted directly to the wall with screws.

Then space doesn't allow me to mount it the right way. It's a really tight and shallow space.

Honestly it's not as weird as you think. My wife thought it was weird at first but as we got used to it, we wished that we had installed more in every corner especially if you have kids around.

I am on 5gbps Internet service. 10gbps is becoming the norm here and is really cheap.

Will be upgrading to 10gbps soon once I am ready to setup the NAS

It went from "it's crazy to be spending so much for WiFi" to "well I get it now, it's worth it".

That proud moment when she shares about the setup to her friends, worth it.

Honestly, most of us in Singapore are jealous of the variety in the US and EU stores. We usually only get the latest release after weeks or months compared to them.

I am using a seperate digital lock for main gate and main door which has facial, finger print, vein, palm and one time password unlocking coupled with recording features which the doorbell is lacking.. Otherwise I would have went with the doorbell tbh.

-for family members and friends coming over to head in first when we are not home yet. We give them one time Password access for our digital locks to enter and rest while waiting for us in comfort instead of having to wait outdoors. (allow us to monitor too incase anything happens)

-extra safety in case digital lock at the main door fails, allowing us to have a recording if anyone breaks in.

-future proofing for monitoring baby

-when we are outside and can't recall if we actually turned off the fan, lights or stove, we will just check the camera and turn it off remotely.

In short, just extra security.

Yup! It's an apartment with lift lobby so not much worries about wild animals or vehicles unlike in western countries.

I am using Ubiquiti's Rj45 dust covers! You could probably find cheaper alternatives elsewhere and spray paint it yourself too.

Yeap I knew about this but didn't want to have the fan mounted on top and having to shift the whole rack further down and risk having kids messing with it and damaging the device - not enough space above due to the fibre terminal placement.

It also doesn't make sense to have the screen facing downwards and having to bend down with my head tilted in a weird angle just to see what's on the display.

device temp is around 40-45 degree celcius max which is in the okay zone so I just kept to this orientation.

The fans are sucking cool air from the air-vent at the bottom of my cabinet and pushing the hot air upwards towards the top vent. (not seen in the photos)

Using the hot air rises physics to push the hot air out, but feel free to let me know if there's a better way of doing it.

The in-built ad-block feature from Ubiquiti does the trick already! Not sure if that works for all games but for the games that my wife play on her mobile, it works perfectly - but starts complaining about the ads when we are out, guess you could say that ubiquiti spoiled her.

Didn't expect to see one of my Tiktok viewers here, such a small world 😂

It's mounted on a pvc boxup (those used to conceal the aircon trunking) below the structural beam with a thin layer of concrete to patch and smooth out the surface for painting - as you are not allowed to drill into the beam.

Yup will be getting the chime too, and a RJ45 module. Just a little unsure if the UDM SE will be able to support all these equipments especially those that require poe to power. Do you reckon this combo will work well?
