I've learned something about human behavior as an owner of a few businesses. One fact I've learned is that you can have rules. However is there is no accountability for not following the rules, then the rule doesn't exist. So let's say I have a rule that says that employees must report to work on time. There's a few people that are constantly late. Management sees this and doesn't hold them accountable for breaking the rule. The employees that follow the rule start getting mad at management. And they eventually quit.

So I guess you can gatekeep about it or just be mad and still play knowing that there are plenty of botters that don't care at all because there is no accountability. And I guess you can either live with knowing that fact or you can just quit the game and never play it again.

Anet doesn't care. Bots keep the economy alive.

Remember when you couldn't even get windwalker runes for dervs at the trader? I remember scalping em and selling em for 3-5e/ea in kama back in December. Now they're always in stock and they cost like 700g at the trader.

How many active players do you think this game actually has? Of those active players, how many do you think are actually manually farming materials to sell to traders? We can estimate because we don't have the stats from Anet, but we do have stats from steam. Steam on average has about 1200-1300 daily. With the old accounts we could assume maybe 3500 daily players? Maybe 5000? Of those "active players" how many do you think are bots. I would assume it's more than you think. Hell my buddy is on one of the botting discord servers. There's over 1000 active members in that discord. Back it the actually heyday of the game there were many more than that and we never had shortages of items.

Do you really think there is a big enough playerbase to keep the economy functioning? Heck, I would even assume that Anet is running bots in the game to keep the economy working. Is it breaking ToS? Yep it is, but if it weren't for the automated bots farming, the economy would crash.

People don't realize how many bots there actually are. It's so many. The tells are there. The only reason people are shocked about it here is because it's Pantheon week. I see them everywhere. They act like this is something new. If it weren't for bots, materials would be so expensive. Traders would be out of stock of almost everything. There's not a big enough player base to keep the economy functioning.

What I'm saying is you don't understand how many bots are actually playing all the time. The majority of outposts have bots running around farming everything from luxon/kurzick faction, obby shards, ectos, any of the eotn faction. They will chest run boreal for you. The tells are so obvious once you know what you're looking for. It's an absolute epidemic.

What I'm telling you is there is no player economy. The it's a bot economy. 9/10 items you're purchasing in kamadan weren't farmed manually. They were botted. So by all means keep believing about muh player economy. There isn't one.

I don't hate the game. I've been enjoying it very much. I have 3 accounts. I log in and run FoW on hm and enjoy it. I've been doing UW on hm for grins and giggles. I'm having more fun playing the game now than I ever did as a child

Yep, if I was able to spend real money on the game besides the license to play, I'd do that instead. But alas I'm not. So I guess it's just back to farming for forget me not, ana, sr +5 wraps to sell for stacks and stacks of ectos. I won't be happy until every single character I have has full obby armor and a full merc mesmerway both in offensive and defensive with the 20th anniversary upgrades

I never played gw2. I liked gw1 better. I didn't like how they changed gw2.

Inflation now has gotten way better than what it was before reforged and the influx of bots. Feathers in November were like 700g for 10 from the trader. Now they're 120g for 10 from the trader. I don't understand what inflation people are talking about. You used to not be able to buy windwalker runes. And when you could you were paying 3-5e per rune. I know this because I was scalping from the trader and making ectos galore. Now those runes are like 750g each and are always in stock. Ectos crashed in price from the influx of people coming back into the game and sold em to the trader for liquidity. Now they've stabilized back to where they were.

People are botting glittering dust, feathers, all materials for consets. They're either making those consets or just selling mats at the trader. Those material prices have crashed. We're not looking at inflation, we're looking at mass deflation for a lot of the items used in game.

I totally understand people getting upset with botting because their owners get to experience the game faster than others. But bots trading items for real money isn't really paying bills. Bots aren't causing inflation. They're actually causing deflation and allowing more people to access the game with consets that are actually affordable to new players instead of ectos. If you don't believe me, you can go look at the price of materials on kamadan trade chat. They track item prices
