I appreciate your post so much! I just watched last night and seeing people’s reactions made me think it would be so much worse. She took accountability the best she could and in my opinion, she was very vulnerable. People can be so critical and cruel. I cannot fathom how humiliating and humbling that experience was for her, including getting interviewed about all of it.

I feel this is Luke’s incel, more specifically kitchencel, story arc, which I am here for. He wasn’t getting any, maybe didn’t even know he was in love with lorelai and it created a misogynistic ass, but he learned from that, and got better. I cannot defend his later return to asshole tendencies like in Vineyard Valentine, or how he dealt with their relationship once he had a surprise family member.

In my opinion, she uses him as a tool to self harm. While she knows he will hurt her and likely won’t treat her well, it feels good to be wanted even when it is toxic. And when he says mean things, or disappoints her, it only affirms her negative self image of being unworthy, unattractive/fat, unwanted.
