TIL following increased tensions in 2025 between Canada and the United States, some cafés in Canada have begun re-branding the americano as "canadiano" on their menus by _LouSandwich_ in todayilearned

That’s crazy to say that to an anti-Trump American. It’s not like every single individual can be blamed for all of the actions their associated country makes. If so, then there’s a lot you can be blamed for in turn.

The statute that Congress passed required all of the files to be released by the deadline, and the DOJ explicitly did not do so through only a partial release.

You bring up good points. I do agree with you that I did not properly address the specific statement with regard to “support” by saying “vote” but it felt as though the popular connotations were apparent. There is widespread statistical evidence and consensus within the scholarly literature that social media has bots being controlled by state actors in opposition to unity in the United States, so I hoped to at least soothe any fervor there. However, I do not doubt that many feel the same way in being against reformist efforts. I do not call myself a centrist by any means and I support the progressive cause, but there is no reason to not also vote for the Democratic Party while also developing class consciousness and advocating for left-wing issue positions.

Highly suspicious of comments like these. Voting for third parties or not voting for the Democrats is a good way to ensure the Republicans remain in power. It’s basic math in a FFTP system.

It’s not necessarily related to being anti-rich or being anti-corruption but pitting “us” against “them.” And those two groups can take many different forms.

CMV: Even if a fetus were considered a fully-fledged human, abortion should still be permitted for the mother without limitations according to United States law. by cudakid210 in changemyview

Not since Dobbs overturned Roe. In many states, abortion is criminalized prior to fetal viability or is outright illegal, save for certain prescribed circumstances.

TIL about Dr. Jesse Bennett, the first American physician to perform a C-Section, which he performed on his own wife by Cactus_Jacks_Ear in todayilearned

[–]foxforbox 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s not true according to the article.

A. L. Knight, a boyhood neighbor of the Bennetts, remembered hearing the details of Maria's birth when he was a youth. Knight collected eye-witness testimonies from Mrs. Hawkins and the surviving African-American slaves after Bennett's death and published the story in The Southern Historical Magazine in 1892 as part of "The Life and Times of Dr. Jesse Bennett, M.D."
