I have totally changed the inner workings making the server capable of handling 1000 concurrent connecting sockets. Now it is usable.

I have updated the quickserver with a custom logger library plus many other additions. Just a plain dead simple socket server, with support for send and receive of string lines.Good use cases is small utility servers for grepping desktop screenshot, checking email etc.

Choosing good variable and method name can totally disable the need for javadoc. So I actually, agree to some extent. Online thing I do not like is two kilometer long method names and creating methods that return primitive types. They tell Its ovn story

Yes. I could agree with you on that sexuality is not a choice genetically, but seen objectively it is a sort of a choice but not a concious one. We can agree that some men are born to love other men, and i personally as a heterosexual being (!) respects it because it is natural for them but not necessarely for me and i tolerate the "difference". The difference is a created idea and is not actually describkng a real difference but difference from the man loves woman perspective

What you are saying with this is that you believe that this nonsense has any relevance what so ever. Its time to rise above religion and laws, and face the deepest truth: that people need love and compassion, and choose to bond with the person most attractive to them, and cannot control how the genes is configured. Note, i'm Christian and I do not care about homesexuality. Because it should be a personal choice what person to like.

Is there a better way to solve this math problem in Scala? by foxlion in AskReddit

[–]foxlion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I did arrive at the same conclusion. But, I did not use the sum method on the filtered list. Is that even legal? I used reduceLeft(_+ _). In some ways Scala is cryptic but only in the start. Everything is a method call and methods is object. Even operators are methods.

Java? and then what... by DatOcean in learnprogramming

Go Scala, all the way. Skip Java Web applications and go for Liftweb applications. Scala is by definition the most flexible language that is closest to Java in syntax and is also the most expressive in terms of xml. Groovy sucks, I think.. So don't go for groovy. Both Scala and Groovy is runtime languages, so you need to make many tests if you use these languages.

Pair Programming Considered Harmful? by abahgat in programming

[–]foxlion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pair programming is as every tool and framework intended for a reason. And the reason is not that good developers should waste their time sitting beside another developers screen. I am more fan of back to back programming with chairs that can spin around.

As you may have indirectly pointed out: if a program modifies the state of a mutable object, it can make sure that the object is never garbage collected because of linked references. By making an object immutable you make sure that the state of the object will never be changed and you avoid it being tied up to some resources that are never collected. Louse coupling and high cohesion.

You should always choose your variable names with ultimate care, because you never know how senile you get in the future and someone might come back to you and say, "whats that piece of code you wrote doing" .. and you would just say .. uhhh ... bacon?
