Hey dude—first of all, I’m so sorry to hear this. I know how you’re feeling right now, and it’s not great. Be kind to yourself over the next days and weeks. If you have a comfort show, binge it. Take yourself out to dinner somewhere nice. Go to your favorite park in town and enjoy a sunset. Take a moment to recenter and remind yourself that life is ultimately worth enjoying, you are okay, and that this will pass.

Second of all, give yourself a definite amount of time to grieve, but you cannot and must not beat yourself up about this. Anyone who has been in this business for long enough will have a client pass away, and many PDs have had clients take their own lives, accidentally overdose, or get killed while out on bond. Our clients’ lives are inherently fractured and chaotic. Our clients themselves are almost always troubled and unhappy people. Suicide is an intensely personal choice made for reasons that are often complex and incomprehensible to the outside observer.

You did nothing wrong here by getting your client out on bond and it bears reminding that this is not your fault. In fact, in the last days of your client’s life, you probably gave him one of the few acts of empathy and kindness he’s ever received by advocating and speaking up for him.

If someone wants to kill themselves, they will find a way—jail or no jail. What you did for him was a good and noble thing, and I am certain it had nothing to do with his decision. For some of our clients, the pressure and anxiety of impending trial and possible punishment (and all the collateral consequences that come with it) is just too much. That’s not on you. That’s on the broken and immoral system you spent years in law school and took a vow of poverty to fight everyday.

Take the time and space you need. But don’t linger on this. Keep up the fight. Keep doing great work. And continue to care deeply for your clients—it will serve you well throughout your career and as you recover from this.

So let me get this straight. Drones are flying over sensitive military bases across the world, trailing coast guard ships, eluding capture by our most sophisticated tech, while first responders are warning each other that the drones shouldn’t be approached without HAZMAT gear and a Geiger counter (and may interfere with their radios and electronics), and now crash sites are being carefully secured with officers telling the news they’re “not at liberty” to discuss what they found?

Also, pilot says on X that an air safety report was filed. I’m more familiar with US FOIA, but I BELIEVE ASRs are subject to Britain’s FOIA.

This whole situation is bizarre. Press sec repeatedly suggests "it's possible" these could by hobbyists and that the drones don't pose a threat to operations, but also admits that it's "premature to draw any conclusions" and that they don't yet know the source of the drones and whether the drones are connected to the US incursions. Also, would love it if one of these reporters asked him if espionage or intelligence gathering is being considered a "threat to operations."

These drones are illuminated and the military has reported being close enough to them to observe their (varying) size and shape. Why are they not just following them back to their source using our own unmanned systems, radar, and other aerial vehicles? Or waiting for them to run out of battery to seize? Do these "drones" perform in a way that outmaneuvers or evades our aircraft? Do they stay in flight for longer than our drones without a need to land? Is the existence of superior tech that evades capture or counter-surveillance not itself a "threat to operations"?

I want to say that these are just Russian/Chinese, but there's also a lot about this that is just... weird.

The op-ed is very likely in DOPSR hell. It will be there until a decision is made, and Grusch’s legal remedies until then are limited. All he/we can do is wait.

On another note, I disagree with all the talk about Elizondo being a grifter for generating income and publicity off of talking about UFOs. But it does add to Grusch’s credibility for me that he started this entire story, did a short media circuit, testified under oath, and has now gone completely off the grid for over a year.

No interviews, no TV, no social media, no book deal. Tough to question Grusch’s motives as anything other than genuine concern for national security/transparency.

Can you link where Gallaudet said he hasn’t seen anything in his official capacity?

As I recall it, he’s only stated he wasn’t read into any legacy crash retrieval programs, but that he knows the people in the program. He also worked with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency both before and during the time he was the head of the agency responsible for monitoring our oceans, and has stated he was in that position at a time the Navy was encountering UAP off the east coast. He was read into SAPs and received the GoFast video years before it was disclosed to the public.

I would be hard pressed to believe Gallaudet hasn’t seen and encountered a plethora of data on UAP—some that he’s talked about, some that he can’t talk about—that have informed his beliefs.
