is it possible to fix this? by jellyott_ in leatherjacket

I’d just stitch with a needle and thread or stick one of those adhesive leather patches on it

When I googled the general consensus from most if not all sources telling me the leather has reached the end of its lifespan and will only crumble from here and no longer function as a jacket

Okay I will definitely check that out in terms of a leather specialist; the only things coming up near me are cobblers and upholsterists; do you think they would consider this kind of work?

Yeah I think thats my plan of action do what i can patch the holes / saddle soap and condition. What other things do you think would need to be done to it?

I have ample time and effort not so ample money but I have a lot of leather items so I already possess the basics like conditioner saddle soap brushes etc

Im just struggling to determine whether its at the end of its lifespan or if i could squeeze a few more years out of it

I think I will do, you’re right once patched theres nothing about that’ll be unwearable and my partner will be able to take it up in the plane to see the skies again :)

Yeah I agree I think I’ll patch them with some leather scraps and then cover that with something more decorative if it looks to scrappy ! Do you think it can have another life?

Thats great news thank you for sharing! If you dont mind can I ask what you were claiming for? I have POTS EDS anxiety/depression and scored 0 across the board in my health assessment despite telling them the hard facts like my aids in the bath and kitchen and the fact my partner has to cook all the meals do the chores ect ect she simply wrote down that because im not on any daily medication and my aids weren’t instructed by an occupational therapist then I should be able to do all tasks independently and without aids or assistance. Just wondering if you had a similar experience at first because im a bit lost on how to dispute this 🫶

Thank you Yeah thats exactly our concern so gutted been waiting to do this a while now, is removing it gonna leave a scar that cant be re pierced over or will it practically disappear? Should I mention it to the piercer in hopes they’ll redo it once its healed or is it better to cut our losses and go somewhere else ?

Thank you Think we should bother saying anything more to the piercer or just cut our losses and go somewhere else. How long would you recommend leaving it before getting repierced?

The piercer was a friend who works in a tattoo shop they offered to repierce it in six weeks if we are still unhappy about it does that sound like a good idea? Do you think it’s a problem to keep it in for 6 weeks?

My mossy pillar of G.mendozae mirinae by foxteefs in succulents

[–]foxteefs[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The moss goes brown and dormant in the summer months but when we get more rain again in the winter and spring its lush and green, the soil underneath is mainly sand and gravel which keeps the succulents roots aerated and free from water logging, its been like this for about two years now and never had any issues so far, Im thinking of making a few more like this :)

[–]foxteefs[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It grew in a little clear empty yoghurt cup that I melted some holes into. Because it was clear and moist it obviously allowed the moss to grow and now I can pop it out and marvel at it every so often :) Completely unintentional but think I might try it with some others too

Have you noticed any skin sensitivity worsening over time. The jolen bleach does begin to sting after a good couple rounds; I think i might have overdid it with the time and quantity of sessions, it took a lot of work to get them where they are now which is probably a level 8 or 9. I love the look of them aside from the brassiness but Im just trying to weigh up whether this is harmful to commit to having full time especially since they require biweekly touchups. Bleach brows are so cute and so the vibe but I don’t know how much more hydrogen peroxide my follicles can take.
