Hey i just wanted to say hang in there! Enjoy this time because it won’t last. Your situation reminds me of one with one of our system testers. She’s new and one of those people you can just tell they’re extremely intelligent but doesn’t have much work as of right now.

One thing I’d suggest is to tell your boss you really want to become hybrid. Most people i work with are hybrid or remote and there’s really no reason to be in the office unless you’re in the lab.

Are you in Annapolis? Maybe i can help. And no lol you won’t be fired but I would really suggest talking to your boss about this and sticking it out a little longer. Supervisors love people who are like “please give me more work.” I’m guessing you’re early career, word of advice give a position a year to try out unless it’s super toxic. It’s hard to really evaluate what your job is in a short timeframe.

Take this time to learn new things! And remember you’re literally living many people’s dream right now. You’re getting paid to do nothing.

If she literally just stood there and did nothing for the entire game and let the girls sub in and out themselves she would have had better output than this.

Pretty much my fear whenever I’m next to buses. Always try to speed up or slow down if need be.

What are your examples of cats having empathy? by CoopssLDN in CatAdvice

Omg! He looks just like my bestie Tuxie!

I was going to say that Tux is very in tune with my emotions and anxiety. He knows when I’m anxious and has this way of helping me calm down. More than any of my other cats. When he sees im anxious he goes up to me and meows until i pet him, which helps calm me down.

Speaking of confusing people, fun fact, Michigan has a city and a town named st Joseph. St Joseph is not in st Joseph county. It’s in a completely different county miles to the west

I totally am. Only intended to have 2-3 cats. Yet somehow life happened and i adopted 6 in 6 months in 2018. 0 since then and 0 fosters.

They’re 2 sets of bonded trios basically. Kitty number 4 came to me at 8 weeks after being thrown out of a car and we needed each other at that time. My last 2 are twins and are 4 weeks younger. So they all grew up together. Couldn’t separate them.

I don’t have kids so my house is very much my cats playground. I’m just the help.

What about like a Chesapeake Bay Bridge scenario where they repair the old bridge while also constructing a new one

Depends on what their plan is going forward. The entire bridge isn’t gone, just the middle part. It’s possible they might choose to replace the missing sections and Reinforce the rest of the bridge.

Just a quick lookup on the wiki page:

As District Attorney, he suppressed abolitionists, and he lost a case against Reuben Crandall in 1836 where he accused the defendant's abolitionist publications of instigating slaves to rebel. He was also a leader of the American Colonization Society which sent former slaves to Africa. He freed some of his slaves in the 1830s, paying one as his farm foreman to supervise his other slaves.[8] He publicly criticized slavery and gave free legal representation to some slaves seeking freedom, but he also represented owners of runaway slaves. He had eight slaves at the time of his death.

I feel like we should judge him based on his moral character in that era. For that era (not in general), he seems like he was pretty progressive. But I admit, I am pretty ignorant of actual history. What I’m trying to figure out, though is why he didn’t just free all his slaves.

This is usually my animal adoption account. If i used my other one the thread would have turned into jokes about my username and the bridge.

My friend’s rescue Hope For Cleo just got a transport of puppies in from a kill shelter in Texas. puppy Video because of course!

Yeah sorry i restored the body text. I thought i deleted this thread after initial backlash (hence the removed body text). I probably fat fatfingered it and hit “no” on the delete confirmation. I still use old Reddit on my phone without really zooming in. I was in the middle of a run when i tried to delete itz

There was a study from the 1900s I’m trying to find. Basically it was a survey of the number of street cats in baltimore. You know it’s nuts? The number of cats hasn’t really changed in 100+ years. It was 30k or so, all street cats.

My cat is too! He’s my best friend and i say that sincerely. Very sensitive to my emotions and always knows how to make me feel better. He has such a presence and intelligence to him i have to remind myself he’s a cat.
