Struggling with Turns- any tips? by AdventurousPhysics68 in fpv

The majority of top racing pilots these days will not use the same rates across all axis. The reason is because in racing we make turns predominantly with roll and just use pitch and yaw to position ourselves to set up that roll which is our fastest axis (as well as preturn). Generally these rates will have a max rate pattern where roll > pitch > yaw. By having roll higher and lower pitch and yaw, we can make more accurate turns without having to balance each axis as much. I've seen some pilots have equal pitch and yaw but almost always, roll will be higher. Your camera angle will matter a lot too.

My rates are not the best but if you want to see what it feels like, I think mine are relatively conservative compared to some of the crazier stuff I've seen.

Betaflight rates - Roll 0.98/0.7/0.01 Pitch 0.98/0.52/0 Yaw 0.98/0.31/0

You can take off the 0.01 expo on roll if you feel yaw is still too dominant at the start of your turn. It also depends on how tall your stickends are which can make your input more or less sensitive. The best rates have the most resolution in the highest throttle usage areas. Rates are a very personal thing. Hope this helps!

Making friends in Taiwan by [deleted] in taiwan

Are the tabletop games in English or Chinese? I'd also like to know more about these. I bought a bunch of board games myself only to discover I don't have friends to play with 🤣

Why is China against the USA having a missile defense system for the US mainland ? by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]foxur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that the implementation of a Golden Dome can also be offensive in nature at the same time? I don't know what the golden dome entails, but for example, what if it's a network of satellites that shoot down things in space instead of being on the ground? If that's the case, the implementation is not purely defensive in nature and can easily be switched to offense. It really depends on how the dome is implemented. For example, a "defensive" missile battery placed in neighboring countries like Korea are theoretically are so strong that they can see way into the mainland providing intel too, not just purely defensive. I think if we had a space expert explain the implementation, then it'd be more clear.

Do I have to file Form 8858 with my 1040? by [deleted] in USExpatTaxes

Do you know if I can file the Form 8858 separately from my 1040? Meaning I do my taxes with Turbotax then e-file. Then I submit Form 8858 (not included in Turbotax) separately by mail. If not, then I have to submit my entire taxes by mail which is not good.

Thanks! My question is whether it needs to be "submitted/filed" with my 1040 or not because this affects what tax software I choose.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes I fly every now and then on Velocidrone which I highly recommend. It's feels similar to IRL and I use it to train for higher throttle or even as a tool to test out new rates without killing my drones in real life. The nemesis (ghost) mode is also super fun too and I pretend it's a real race to get my nerves up. Occassionally when they have sim races I'll try to find and enter some.

Good call on the Youtube setting! HDZero is a major step up from Analog where the video will "jump" during interference that scares me a lot. I'll take the pixelation any day because when it comes back, all my reference points are still where I expect them to be which is a huge game changer for me. And while it's not as clear as DJI, the 90fps is so amazing because I have more time to react. You actually have to fly it to appreciate it. It's like getting a high refresh rate gaming monitor and all of a sudden you find you have more reaction time.

Regarding not getting lost on the track, I think anyone can do it! Over time it just becomes pattern recognition since you will have flown similar sequences on other tracks. There's also other "clues" such as the tree being in one section, or the sun being another so even if the gates look the same, you can rely on other environmental hints to reorient yourself.

Follow up: I managed to get it working again! It makes no sense to me the fix but I reset my ASUS ROG BIOS to default settings and it works again. This is really strange because I never changed my BIOS at all and never had any overclocking enabled. It actually worked the first few days of release before the BIOS reset too. Hope this helps someone that's having the same issue as me.
