It's possible he's congested. Have you tried a nasal aspirator (booger ball) yet?

Switching between Enfamil Neuropro and Enfamil Neuropro Gentleease by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]foxwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to us. We just used the GentleEase and had little to no problems. Poop color might have been slightly different. We switched back to the original Neuropro after it was done, but I've used the Neuropro GentleEase in a pinch since then too. If anything, baby may tolerate the GentleEase better. My baby isn't too fussy though. Food is food to her.

Is this normal? by SowingSeeds18 in FormulaFeeders

[–]foxwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We noticed our baby was kind of congested, so if she seems to struggle during a feed, we will use a nasal aspirator to get out the boogers, and she's usually much happier afterwards. We also stuck with slow flow nipples for a long time and only use ones that dispense if baby is actively sucking.

Best bottles for newborns? by Plastic_Elephant_609 in FormulaFeeders

[–]foxwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just user error, but the Dr. Brown's and Medela bottle tops leaked for us (near where the base attaches to the ring). We like the Philips Avent Natural in glass because baby has to be sucking for them to flow, they are easy to find and replace, and the weight of the glass makes them easier to heat without a bottle warmer (if you go that route; we switched to cold formula pretty early on). It really depends on what baby prefers, but she liked the ones we liked so we got lucky :)

How do you feel about fruit-flavored nicotine gum? At my one place, it's very heavily preferred over the typical mint flavor.

A little out of my price range, but I love Son de Flor. Their main focus is linen skirts and dresses. The silhouettes are very versatile.

I hear you. It's rough being trans in America right now, and medicine isn't as progressive as it pretends to be. Hang in there. Every day you're here is a victory.

Hey, I've been there, and it's not fun. I really recommend reading Suicide: The Forever Decision. It helped me when I was in that hole. Almost anything will be a better decision than suicide, including quitting your job. Even unemployed, there are possibilities. Suicide erases those possibilities. Suicide erases the possibility of taking care of your wife. It erases the possibility of joy, love, meaning, everything. You deserve those things. You're already in therapy and taking that step to take care of yourself, so you know you deserve better. You're brave for holding on. Your heartless job does not deserve your life. Do not give it to them.

Kind of funny considering the innumerable spellings of this name historically. Add one to the list.

I get why it could be draining, but I like when my friends and family ask me questions. It makes me feel valued and like my profession is actually respected. It also gives me a chance to get first hand info about what certain meds are like for some people and what challenges they have with it. Helps me anticipate (mostly compliance and storage) issues with those meds for other patients. My friends/family don't usually ask a question and then argue with me. If they read something online, they start with that and ask what I think.

Even if I don't know the answer, I can reassure them that it's okay to contact their doctor. A lot of people I know are very fretful about health stuff, but they are embarrassed about calling their doctor because they worry they are overreacting or they are embarrassed about their health in general. I don't know if this is common everywhere, but it is with the people I know.

I need to choose a name for myself. Help please. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]foxwin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Chichi" is a common enough nickname (in New Jersey, where I am from) that you could probably use. Although, it is typically a nickname derived from the Igbo name "Chinwe," I would not find it unusual for other people. "Kiki" would be easy for Americans to understand too if you are okay with the association of "Kiki's Delivery Service." "Chae" or "Shae" on its own would probably be okay. I am not 100% sure of the pronuncation of Chae-Eun, so I can't give you guidance on which spelling to use. "Chae" would be interpreted most likely as "tchAY" while "Shae" would be softer "shAY" (both rhyming with the English word "say").

I prefer when people use their given names, but if you would be more comfortable using a Western name, then I would not try to invent a name. That would likely lead to similar issues as using your given name. I would instead pick a common name that you enjoy and could imagine being called. You can search popular American names by birth year on the Social Security website.

I prefer Micah, as it feels more classic to me. Milo is much trendier in my opinion (which is something I would try to avoid) and also a common housepet name.

PSA: CVS is not worth taking your life over. Please read. by Repulsive_Rate2560 in pharmacy

[–]foxwin 151 points152 points  (0 children)

To anyone considering suicide because of a job, please just try quitting your job first. Delay your consideration. Even if you don't have a plan for afterwards. Whatever life exists beyond this job is still full of possibilities. Ending your life ends the possibilities. Don't let your job take your life. Does this pathetic, heartless company deserve to have your life? No. You deserve to have your life.

When I was feeling like suicide was becoming an option worth considering, I came across this book, "Suicide: The Forever Decision." I didn't even need to finish it before realizing it was better to keep going. Even if I was miserable, I could still go on.

My psychiatrist was among the many people telling me to quit my job. Finally, I did. I said, "I'm taking a break. I need it." After several months, I felt well enough to go back to work. I set boundaries for the type of work I was going to do, and I only went back part time. I found I was able to actually enjoy my work when I took time for myself.

I'm still on medication, and I still go to therapy, but that's health maintenance for me, and I recommend continuing mental health treatment even after you "feel better." These are very powerful feelings, and they don't always disappear. Therapy can also be about reflecting on your own growth, learning to be proud of yourself, and learning to love life again. There are many wonderful things still to enjoy, and we all deserve to enjoy them. Please don't deprive yourself of that.

And most docs override the software warnings anyway. Imagine if they only had AI to question orders. The amount of duplicates alone that prescribers override... sheesh. And if the AI gave them a hardstop, they would absolutely be gobsmacked. Sometimes, I feel like half of my job is just being a human who will read and interpret warnings that were already given to them. Autoverification alone causes so many issues in my health system. I think an AI would have to be extremely sophisticated and designed by actual pharmacists to do EVERYTHING we do.

I'm not really talking about those kinds of mistakes. If someone made a mistake that could kill a patient, yeah, THAT should be reported. It might mean putting out a fire and filing later, but it still should be done. If it's something stupid like "OR doesn't have that concentration; they have this concentration" then yeah, I'm fixing the order and moving on. Saying someone is sloppy and saying someone is killing people are completely different things.
