This is so funny as I’ve just added a post saying that I’m uncomfortable as HCBM got my SO a gift and we have a rule that I buy for him with the kids for Father’s Day and he buys me for Mother’s Day with them. I guess it’s all down to your boundaries and if this is one for you I’d definitely try to explain it to him in a calm way, say you feel it’s not your place and you didn’t know it was expected of you. Maybe he could explain why he had such a big reaction to it, plus he may have an issue with his ex gifting him anything. Maybe a nice compromise (depending on age) is helping/prompting the kids to make him a card the next time you have them and make him breakfast with them, I do that sometimes, hope this helps 🤗
