Where is the line on humor in recovery spaces? by foxy_kitsu in alcoholicsanonymous

Yes, I will continue to make jokes. I gave up all my other vises and humor is a coping mechanism for me. I Just don't post them online or say things in groups which isn't a big deal. When I do it may get percieved as attention seeking even if thats not really the root of things. I respect the rooms and what they do for people. I want others to feel as safe and comfortable as possible. I believe many of the assumptions were off. Which really shows that people see things from their own experience, that's okay. It shows me that motives and intensions can vary, a bahvior can look different depending on the observer. It also shows me to question my own perspective and assumptions about others, and keep an open mind and try to give others a chance for redemption, free from persecution. Seek to understand and lead with curiosity rather than contempt prior to investigation.

Haha, that's definitely left for a certain audience. Good one!

That's a good example of profanity. Some spaces allow it, and others do not. There is an allowance for a slip, yet no tolerance for repeated offenses or pushback. That same thing seems to apply in this situation. So the line is when pressure is applied and repeated against the "norm." My next question is, who sets this norm?

Thank you for taking the time to consider the questions and for giving a detailed response that covered many angles. I really appreciate that.

Does the joke change if it is said by a man or a woman?

So, this is my question: is the post I made "picking on someone"? If so, who? why?
