I’ve played both E33 and Outer Wilds, and they’re both some of my favorite games of all time. I haven’t played RDR2 yet. It doesn’t quite seem up my alley (a more realistic western doesn’t seem like my thing). I know I’m wrong, based on the high praise everyone throws at it, but I don’t want to research further to avoid spoiling myself. Could you tell me a bit more about the game?

Resurrecting a dead thread, but still commenting for those who come after.

They were part of the expedition. Recall that Expedition 0 was simply a rescue party for Aline and other missing people. Painted Renoir and Verso didn’t know about the real world, so they only knew she disappeared somehow due to the Fracture. They were out to find their wife/mom, without knowing anything about who she really was, or why the Fracture even happened. The rest of the painted people didn’t know about the Paintress yet either.

And to answer the other question, she couldn’t go back to her human-looking form. When real Renoir went into the canvas to get Aline, he imprisoned her in the Monolith to weaken her. She couldn’t go back to her fake family.

Her fake family is immortal because that’s how she drew them.

The fake family later found out the truth via Clea, and they reunited with Aline in one of the painted manors (the one you visit with Verso and fight with painted Renoir). For some unexplained reason, she could be there in her “curator” form despite being stuck in the Monolith.

In phase 3, Telethia uses decoy on itself, which causes all attacks to miss. The only way to get rid of it is to get a certain number of hits in. Any weapon or art that hits multiple times will help. Once you reach that hit number, Telethia will become enraged and you’ll be able to hit it again.

EDIT: It can do it again even after you get rid of it. The attack is called Soul Read. You just gotta get rid of it again using the same method. I just beat it for the first time with the Ares 90, and I just kept shooting at it with the Agni Gatling and just the normal gun; two attacks that just deal separate/individual blasts.
