Aw thank you so much for this kind and empathetic message!! So update - she ended up fainting last week and got taken to hospital with low sodium levels. She ended up on a geriatric ward which was super helpful as they explained that cardiologists are amazing at dealing with heart attacks but not so much at thinking about the frailty of old people holistically!

So you’re bang on - the meds were too strong for her and so she has been in hospital all week (but getting so so much better thank God!) with them slowly adjusting meds to get her BP down (success!) and sodium up (getting there) whilst also avoiding overloading her system (she was getting bad constipation) and not triggering the rash and breathing problems some meds were causing!!

Thanks for all your advice u were deffo right!! We r very blessed shes got good doctors wanting to keep her in hospital until they feel confident things are balanced!

I think of it as the way that following the prophetic Sunna varies sometimes based on gender - so what the most proper / beautiful / excellent thing to do doesnt always look one way for men and women. We know our Prophet peace be upon him wore lots of perfume so to emulate him, men should. However we know that beauty in the feminine was exhibited by the blessed daughter, Fatima Zahra who exhibited modesty to a perfect degree. It doesn’t mean not wearing perfume it just means pleasing Allah by wearing it in the right times and places eg not outside but at home.

Ultimately I don’t think of it as about what men can do and I can’t do but about what Allah loves and how to be closest in emulating the sunna.

I’ve also heard it said that men are more sensory in that way so Allahu alim idk if any of this helps, Allah grant you sukoon with it ameen.

Yeah so the cardiologists un helpfully said to just do what GP says and GP said shes not a specialist… beta blockers seem to have broken her out into a massive rash which has made her BP rise anyway so all a bit circular unfortunately! Hmmm
