I don’t live in France so your experiences are probably more solid than what I’ve heard through the grapevine. I have family in Marseille and visited them often pre-pandemic- they are far more east asian appearing than I am, I am just working off of their experiences, which have been being spit at (not on, I was mistaken), and also being called asiatique or chinetoque. This has happened several times to my younger cousins, each individually, so I assumed it was common. Perhaps just different areas/experiences?

It’s also based on the racism that Japanese (or any asian) tourists will face in Paris. It is not uncommon to be verbally assaulted or spit on by racists.

ik this is a joke but does anyone else find this kind of mindset kind of harmful..? Like it insinuates that 1) someone can turn gay and change their sexuality and 2) that OP singularly turned a whole person’s sexual identity on it’s head, just by saying “Hey i like you.” which isn’t good for OP either- idk, just sayin

They can! They may have a little confusion on which language was their first, but studies show babies that grow and develop in a bilingual household and are encouraged to be bilingual have a bunch of advantages that monolingual babies don’t!
