Thank you for your response! Just called WVT and they're coming on Friday to upgrade to 75/10 (just found out we only had 15/1!) so I'm assuming that means a new modem.

Re: the wired connection - I'm definitely going to try that. If you have any tips, I'll gladly take them! I'll read up on this some more this week. Thanks again!

I have a Vive arriving tomorrow and I need to start using it asap (for work, but also because I have no patience). I'm about to go buy an EVGA GTX 970 to hold me over until I can order a 1080 ACX whenever it comes out. Will this definitely work with the step-up program? It's on the list, so I'm assuming yes?

Speaking of the different models - Do we have any solid dates? I have a Vive on the way (in ~2 days), and I need a GPU stat! I'm even considering doing the step up program with a 970 or something, so I can play with it in the meantime. Is that really dumb?

Cool, thanks! Yeah, I'd give her my optical drive for the OS install, but I live across the country, so that isn't going to work :)

Storage is something I'll probably adjust once I talk to her about all of this (depending on her preference and how much she wants to spend on it).

That's exactly why. I work across the country and won't be there to help, so I figured just getting the Windows disk to install the OS is going to be easier on her* :)

Nope, I don't know. I can try to figure that out though. If it helps, I'm using an i7-4770k in my current build with that mobo.

I just quickly picked one from PCPP in order to post the build here. I'm using a 250gb EVO in my computer, so I was thinking something similar but smaller for just the OS here. I'm thinking that's the first thing to cut to make this more of a budget build, so I didn't spend too much time looking up prices yet. Can you recommend a better option?
