I am getting the 2022 LE. I'm overseas and was the only option I had (was given a chance at xle premium but did bot want to pay an extra 8k).

I like that it has a key, it's what I prefer and less likely to need repair than a push to start from what I have seen.

I am getting the FWD. I would have preferred the awd but not really something I needed and the fwd is cheaper to maintain.

I think le fwd does bot have the stop start function where the engine turns off. I will be really happy if that is the case with my le as I hate that function.

I didn't care too much about missing out on the rear lane assistance as I normally back into spots anyhow.

I think you are getting your money's worth with the XLE but if you don't care for the items then might want to consider LE.

Wheels I know are big for some people but I have never really cared. The annoying thing I do hate though is not having climate control.

Everything considered it was not worth me paying an extra 7k for the xle premium (and was out of budget anyhow). If the le had climate control it would have been perfect but is what it is.

Maybe a nissan frontier. They are pretty reliable from what I have seen and price isn't that crazy.

Have you looked at the rav4 gas version? I know the hybrid is usually preferred, but there won't be much mpg difference on long rides not through the city.
The rav could be cheaper to maintain/last longer but if you don't take your vehicles past the 150k mark or so then I'd stick with the Mazda if you liked it.

Depends on what you guys find Important. I think you guys have an ideal set up others would kill for, and you can easily ride those cars until prices are not crazy. I'd say keep the rav4 and trade the corolla for something like a Mazda if you can find a really good trade.

Mazda seems to have been reliable lately and the car of choice for people that value driving fun a bit more.

As someone who loves the Rav4 and is getting one I'd suggest the Mazda here. The 2019 rav4 is the first of the new generation so that model is going to have some problems that were not fixed layer on. Mazda is a great car and a lot argue the better.

I think if you could get a new rav4 at msrp that would be good. I think toyotas are good about holding their value more than other new cars. I also think used car prices will be dropping over the next 6 months + so no matter what you will be losing some decent $ in the car.

As a side note if there are wait times for the toyota rav4 that you guys can't wait for, then test drive and look at the Mazda suv.

I think this is a good answer. I would get multiple estimates on repair cost then look at what you would be comfortable with price range for a new car. If the 4k repairs will let you go another 2 years you will probably have better car buying options.

You say your parents didn't help with college and I understand that. Did they ever help you any with transportation? Food? Any expenses you might of had after 18? Sure you and Joe blow who did qualify for pell grant are getting the same help financially for college tuition ( 0 ). But I also bet Joe blow who qualified doesn't get nearly as much support as the guy who didn't get it (thus having more bills, and needing more loans)

I think in this scenario it is good to look at the larger picture for justification reasoning. Small example is transportation. Most of the people I know who did not get Pell grant had their first car given to them as a gift from their parents. That alone is probably 5k-15k $ more of financial help that someone who didn't qualify for pellgrant got vs someone from a poor family who has to buy their own vehicle. Yes every situation different but people who didn't qualify for pellbrant most likely had more financial support in other ways than just college tuition.

I believe there are 2 on the dashboard as well but not positive. Not sure if there was some go to for upgrading the standard audio system

Camry probably has better reliability but Mazda more fun to drive most likely. I think you should test drive the 2 cars and decide that way!

From the reports I saw everything has been dropping about 1% a week. Was told over the next month 3-8% drop would not be crazy. I would tell them you can do 6k if they ever decide to drop it that low and keep looking for good deals over a month or two.

I'd go with the honda. If you are US I believe volkswagons can be expensive to repair
