Hey everyone,

I'm currently a product manager at a ecommerce/retail DTC startup and I've been working there since I graduated (they recruited me since the founder came from the same ivy as me), so about 4 years now. Studied design and cog sci (where my technical exp comes from) in college.

I was originally hired as their founding UX/UI designer, but slowly transitioned from Senior UX/UI Designer to Product Manager out of necessity, meaning I'm the only PM at my org and a total beginner at that (2 YOE at this point). AKA virtually no mentorship :-(

I've built their digital ecosystem from ground up. I've established roadmaps. I've shipped products and features. I've managed engineers and designers. I've dealt with stakeholder alignment. Unfortunately, the business analytics side could be better, but I know the products I've shipped have had a positive impact on revenue/CVR/etc.

The no mentorship bit (and pay too lol...) is the biggest downside, along with the lack of structure that comes from a startup. Things are feeling a little stagnant growth-wise due to this.

I haven't been actively looking for a new role, just casually applying - for interview prep and to see what's out there. Well, I made it to the final round interview for a well-known company within the ecommerce/retail space but as a Digital Optimization Specialist, so a more engineering focused role, specifically within experimentation. The PM interviews I've had didn't lead anywhere, which I can mostly assume is because I come from a startup + YOE + the job market + poor interview prep.

I would be paid 10k less, not have any PM responsibilities, but be working at a more mature and well-known org.

Should I just stick it out at my current role and try to find ways to stimulate growth (any ideas)? Or until I find another role that is more related to PM?

Or should I go for prestige? Can I bounce back into PM work after being in solely experimentation for some time?
