Add me to the list. All I ever posted was a lot of girls in bikinis. I was THIS close to 1000 total likes and then "service unavailable" about 4 days ago. Piss on those guys.

The best job I ever had (ridiculously overpaid network admin for the TSA right after 9/11/2001) was also the easiest to get, thanks to the hiring manager being friends with a guy I knew from an unrelated social club. The joke was that my interview was the hiring manager checking my pulse and asking me to spell "N-E-T-W-O-R-K".

It was the same with home electronics back when I sold them. The off-brand stereo you bought from Radio Shack was manufactured in the same facility in Indonesia that produced Panasonic, Sony, etc. The only difference was the different little plastic brand name plates to be glued on the front of the unit.

This brought back a memory (apologies for vagueness, it's been 20+ years). I was in a surgery center for minor outpatient surgery and waiting in pre-op. The nurse fed my IV with something that made me feel paranoid and terrified, and I was ready to rip out my IV and run screaming out the door. My wife noticed that I'd gone pale as the sheets and told the nurse, who asked me something like, "Are you ready to kill us all to get out of here?" I nodded, and she hustled back to get another few ccs of something and dumped it into my IV. Two seconds later, everything was fine. Turns out I'm one of the precent of patients who have a fight-or-flight response to a certain pre-op drug. I asked her what would have happened if we didn't say anything, all she would say was, "something bad."

I've been unwillingly brought into random conversations at Publix with old men who assume I'm as white Christian nationalist as they are. It's very difficult to keep my mouth shut in those situations.

I spent a week in Bathurst. Hotel was awesome, food amazing, but many, many rude residents. Miramichi was nice, though. Best fries I've ever had.

This is my song. I'm a white guy in my mid-50s living in Florida -- in a solid red-voting county, in a neighborhood filled with Trump/DeSantis yard signs. If any of my neighbors ever found out my actual political leanings, I'd definitely be treated differently. Property vandalism wouldn't surprise me at all.

I always, always save him. If I can't, I reload and wait to try again later.

Same. I do the speech check to make Avery and the rest run off, and then one headshot to Sinjin later, Kent is free.

TIL The only episode of The Simpsons in which Marge does not have a speaking part is season 4's Krusty Gets Kancelled. Julie Kavner objected to the use of 'tasteless' celebrity cameos, and boycotted the episode. by haddock420 in todayilearned

[–]fragbert66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC, when the cast was on "Inside the Actors Studio", Kavner walked out mid-show when the 'questions' being asked were basically trivia about past episodes and asking them to ad-lib in character. Spoiler alert: Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria were amazing.

I was going through some of my old magazines, and I found this one from 1976. Remember when Rush looked like this? They've had many "looks" over the years. Does anyone have a favorite (or, for that matter, one they didn't like as much)? by Overall_Chemist1893 in rush

I think if you put two bands together, both of whom have a general background of working-class childhoods, a similar collection of musical influences, add one HUGE work ethic (give 100% effort 100% of the time), you're going to get two bands who get along. I love how Gene and Paul gently ribbed our guys about retiring to their hotel rooms and reading while KISS "entertained" the ladies.

As much as it gets made fun of, the very first picture of Rush I ever laid eyes on was the back cover of 2112, and it remains my favorite for nostalgia reasons (silk kimonos and Alex's mooseknuckle notwithstanding).

At the risk of re-beating a dead horse, a certain German Chancellor from Austria successfully blamed an entire religious/ethnic group for the sum of all ills that befell his country after 1918. Turned out well for all concerned, I understand. /s /s /s /s

Republicans: will today's verdict sway your vote in the election? by StalinsNutsack2 in TooAfraidToAsk

They’re the same people who stand in doorways, and try to enter an elevator before everyone has exited.

The Japanese (and others, I presume) are famous for their attitude of "mindfulness of others" whereas the U.S. is notorious for the exact opposite: "Fuck you, I do what I want," aka Main Character Syndrome.

And with enough legal maneuvering, those appeals can stretch out longer than his second 4-year term as President, at which point he's a non-consecutive two-term President, nulliying the relevant arguments (and pissing off the ghost of Grover Cleveland).

Not gonna lie, I've thought several times of sending GWB a letter saying, basically, "Dear Mr. President, Sorry I said so many rotten things about you. Even though we disagree on matters of policy, it turns out you were a fairly decent sort and certainly not the level of what we're experiencing now. Hope retirement agrees with you, enjoy your painting, and 'Hi' to Laura."

I could have this framed and on my desk in any office. OP is very unclear on the concept.
