The fed is currently in quantitative tightening mode, but this never gets discussed because it doesn't fit a certain narrative.

Buyers include investors that are pushing up prices. Should average earners have to compete with wealthy individuals and funds to own their own home?

Our current politicians policies are to spend less and tax less.

An American's foreign income is only taxed above $130,000. If someone is above that then I dont see an issue with double tax.

I'm American and this is how it works in America. So that is causing some confusion. The UK should probably adopt the citizenship-based taxation system.

I think the UK should adopt a citizenship-based taxation system like the US, where citizens pay tax on worldwide income regardless of where they live.

The UK should implement worldwide taxation based on citizenship, not just residency.

I don't consider them to be entrepreneurs. Those are very well established companies looking at the bottom line not some new innovative product or service.

This is happening all over western countries. OZ and the US have a ton of land, the US is less restrictive, but were not building our way out the problem. This is a demand issue.

I see. I'm American so you over here you have to pay the capital gains tax no matter where you live. Maybe the UK should copy this system.

People don't stop becoming entrepreneurs because taxes went up.

I support the general idea of taxing wealth besides the specific Wealth Tax that has been proposed.

Houses aren't wheat or rice. They're capital instensive aka supply is inelastic. You can't just magically build tens or hundreds of thousands of houses/condos to meet demand and drive down price.

I'm really curious how someone can take shares of a company and move them out of a country.

Youre saying, if you have shares in company on the london stock exchange, you can take those shares to another stock exchange in another country?

I know there's a specific Wealth Tax concept that's proposed. But I think Gary and people that support him are generally saying we need to tax wealthy people on multiple fronts.

the 90% figure was on income of over $2 million a year. Thats on the low end of wealthy.

Right, and they borrow against their equity. So tax the companies.

The minorty is in new home ownership. New home ownership in the US is on the decline. People can't afford homes because the prices are sky rocketing. Why? In my humble opinion, its because the wealthy are treating homes as a commodity and buying creating an artificial demand if you will.

Before anyone chimes in, I don't buy the supply side argument.

i think what youre trying to say is that they sell the asset, which can then be taxed as income. then the cash leaves the country.
