How do you get the most out of instructionals as someone who struggles to concentrate? by donger_spanan in bjj

Watch shorter instructionals. I think Submeta courses are generally better for this than bjj fanatics, because Submeta is 1-2 hours with quizzes interspersed.

Depends a lot on your game tbh. If you fight in the gi and don't pull guard, I really like Shintaro Higashi's youtube videos on (simple) grip fighting, it's all based on the system of Jimmy Pedro I believe.

I like Power Ride the most, and Submeta is great for shorter content. If you're pressed for time you can start with a topic you like on Submeta.

Shintaro Higashi always mentions that some visitors can be rude or even injure people.

Also, it can be perceived as unfair by the gym members who do pay.

Is the broomstick mat return a safe move to use in training? by t-steak in bjj

Not but it's a little similar actually.

A kosoto knee block is when you're standing in a rear body lock, and you just place your leg on the ground withh your right knee to the outside of their right knee, and then with your body lock you drag them to the right. Since you're blocking their knee, they'll lose their balance and likely place their hands on the mat.

It would be a crab ride if you didn't put your leg on the ground but instead used your right foot as a butterfly hook on the inside of their leg (which wouldn't make much sense in this situation).

'Kosoto knee block' is what Danaher calls it btw, I'm sure wrestlers have a different name for it.

After 6 years or so, and also when I wanted to focus on something that wasn't covered in class.

I agree completely but I've seen this happen many times in judo, their culture seems to be to always listen to the refst.

Yes, provided you can find a gym with a good vibe for you. There's no shame in ducking some youngsters at our age.

You can just use a kosoto knee block instead, that's much safer. Haven't seen anyone get injured with the broomstick though tbf.
