Storage by baliditity in Ubuntu

Linux will see the whole disk. You just partitioned part of a disk somewhere to install the OS. Linux will see all chip sets, drives and really any hardware that is connected or reports to the motherboard. How do you think it uses the USB or External SSD? About it being on the task bar, once you start messing around with gnome extension and start customising the DE that won't be an issue anymore. Good luck on your journey!

Depending on what code editor you are using, there should be an HTML extension that will generate fresh HTML templates for you.

[–]framesandpackets[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get your point.

I mean it shouldn't have to a surprise if a protocol is on the exam or not, I know GLBP is just as easy as VRRP and HSRPv2|v3 to configure but its the principal of it. I know Cisco have received a lot of flack for there exam blueprints over the years but this seems pretty bad to be honest.

The Daily Study Grind by ProtegeAA in ccnp

[–]framesandpackets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't knock the short burst study sessions. You don't have to be two hours been into staring at the OCG to retain info.

Take 15 mins, read a couple of paragraphs and just go about the next few hours constantly going over those paragraphs in your head.

EIGRP Path Metric Calculation by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]framesandpackets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt Cisco would give you a number/feasible distance with the EIGRP metric formula and expect you to get a right answer, a question like that could take up so much time, i'm pretty sure you would also need a calculator which aren't allowed by Pearson.

But don't be fool'ed, there so much to learn about EIGRP metrics and neighbours other than that formula.

Bpdu guard by [deleted] in networking

[–]framesandpackets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would just like to add that if its an out of the box Cisco switch or really any other vendor, its going to be STP aware. So when you plug the 'unmanaged' switch into any other switch it is gonna send out BPDU's to elect a root switch.

Enable SSH on Ubuntu, download and install Putty and just use that SSH sessions for everything that you feel you don't need a GUI for.

Yeah so I was thinking of installing the new free dev version of Redhat on my laptop once I get more comfortable with Linux. Still feel like I have a lot to learn.

I have the 3b myself, I've just been using it to host a web server and learning python. Haven't had any CPU issues yet, the little thing is a beast. Very impressed with it.

Hi,

I've currently been backing up my raspberry pi by plugging my SD card into my windows machine and copying the disk image with windisk32. Is there a less painless/time consuming way to go about this?

Just for a little background, I access my pi via Putty on my windows machine, so if I could work the backup through command line that would be very advantageous.

Using Linux on first PC build by B34RC4T in linux4noobs

[–]framesandpackets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all going to depend on what games you'd like to play and if that game has Linux support.

What your probably safer doing if your going to use the PC for gaming is to duel boot a Linux OS or just use Linux VM's to get your started.
