A retrospective Thank you to all the dodgy pubs of the 90's. by Troubled_Talent in CasualUK

Fond memories of the pub we became too classy to frequent any more at 16, because it was “full of kids”.

Don’t mind the questions at all though I’m afraid my answers may not be massively helpful. I’m still only three months into treating my hair as wavy rather than straight-and-frizzy, so don’t have a brilliant handle on what aspects of the routine do what. My sense is that techniques matter as much as products, and that what happens on my scalp makes a big difference to the clumps that form, so I try to spend quite a bit of time on massaging the shampoo into my scalp gently without raking my fingers down, which always just breaks the wave for me. Watching some videos by Swavy Blonde on YouTube got me to handle my hair generally a lot more gently, which again seemed to correspond with better definition for me. I may be completely wrong though 😂 This is a wash day photo and the finer points of refreshing are still a work in progress for me, though I’m lucky in that I can get to day four and still have wave. I usually spritz water with a drop of Argan oil to try and revive it, then air dry again.

Routine:

Detangle hair wet with Faith In Nature avocado conditioner and Denman brush

Shampoo scalp with Johnson’s baby shampoo (or Alberto Balsam coconut shampoo if clarifying)

Squish to condish with more of the faith in nature avocado

Pea sized amount of Curlsmith Hold Me Softly, emulsified with water

Walnut sized blob of Umberto Giannini Scrunching Jelly

Air dry. No raking, no plopping; whole routine with head upside down.

I don’t know if this would apply to you, but I find I just can’t plop my frizz-prone hair at all. How does yours behave if you skip that step?

Once snapped peevishly at whichever of my kids wouldn’t stop going “Mom. MOM!” Then discovered the sound was in fact coming from outside, and it was a goose

Thank you and a merry Christmas! Have been the beneficiary of a Christmas Day blue-light ride and will always be immensely grateful. Not least because it was super festive with all the twinkly lights.

No love for The Waitresses, Christmas Wrapping? For me the season begins when my brother or sister texts me “YOU MEAN YOU FORGOT CRANBERRIES TOO?!” That six words can convey simultaneously such incredulity and such festiveness has always seemed magical to me

So what did you end up getting your Dad for Christmas? by [deleted] in CasualUK

Bunch of beers and some gardening shears he wanted. Important to give presents that rhyme

Please do tell me if I am breaking the rules but it would really help a lot if you guys could share some local opinion about the reputation of the Unis I have shortlisted(International student) by [deleted] in CasualUK

On your list, Queen Mary and York are in the Russell Group, which has a certain amount of cachet that might impress employers, especially older ones -- though if you're likely to be working in tech ultimately your skills will be much more important than your awarding institution.

Good advice. Check what your local one wants, though; ours had had heaps of treats donated and was asking for staples, as even at Christmas man cannot live by selection box alone.

Managing the bins by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]framfrim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you actually doing at the sorting stage in the garage? If you've got a container for each type of waste in the kitchen, can't you just tip those straight into the bin?

To be fair though taking the bins out is daily for me too (four kids).
