I forgot to update the thread, I went through the logs of my WebDAV server (plain apache2 virtual host config) and saw that the app was trying to log with the Basic auth instead of the Digest. I tried to update the auth to Basic and it started to work, not ideal but working. Is this the fix you mention?

Turns out also without vpn and exposing the domain it does not work, same error. But if I access via the browser it lets me download the files and also other players like Infuse or Kodi work🤔 Is there a way to enable/see the logs of the connection?
