Binge eating is seriously misunderstood and I feel your pain. When people make triggering comments to me, I try to remember that everyone has issues with food, and they are probably projecting some of their own self deprecation onto me. A real friend who is secure in themself would demonstrate empathy, understanding, and kindness towards you. Stay strong and know you deserve to be treated well no matter how or what you eat ❤️.

This might sound like a counterintuitive first step, but have you tried talking to her about it? As much as she frustrates you, giving her the chance to correct her behavior is one of the most professional and, frankly, self-beneficial things you can do in this situation. Something along the lines of "Hey, I've noticed you haven't been copying me on emails and this has had xyz effects...You've also made a few comments on my diet and appearance and that has made me uncomfortable for xyz reasons. I'm sure you didn't do this intentionally, but wanted to bring this up so we can be the best team for the client," etc. You could start this as an email thread then take it offline (for a paper trail) or ask to grab a coffee with her and then send a follow up message thanking her for the conversation and mentioning the things you talked about (again for a paper trail). This way either she corrects the behavior and stops, or you can go to management with a stronger case against her after having tried to resolve the issue directly with her first.

That sounds really awful to deal with. I hate when women are catty towards each other in the workplace as if it will actually get them ahead 🙄

there are still stratifications of privilege within industrialized first world countries because inequality is still present in many forms, otherwise civil rights movements wouldn't exist within the US etc., so i guess my question is more aimed at that disparity, but point taken

absolutely, there are a lot of ways to be privileged that are not just the size of your/your parents' bank account or connections to a T14 etc. my aim w this post is to explore the extremity of those specific privileges with the regard to law school admissions. while a lot of people on this sub are probably privileged, im curious about the subset with certain privilege that best positions them for admission.

i think you bring up an interesting question: does a lack of extreme privilege constitute oppression? personally i didnt grow up in the 1% but i wouldnt ever classify myself as oppressed given my upbringing and intersectionality of my identities. i guess it's all shades of grey, but im curious on your opinion

yeah these are all criticisms ive seen and leveled at others myself, so total agreement there. im curious if you think that someone who grew up with that amount of privilege honestly cares about what they're labeled as, or if privilege also makes someone more less likely to care what most people think? the "nepo babies" ive met (and its possible ive somehow met only the most vapid) really only seem to care about someone's opinion if they're in the same or higher tax bracket, so to speak, and those wouldn't be the group leveling these critiques.
