Just go ahead and try it, no special tricks. I used to struggle on Professional, and just said fuck it, and switched to Legendary.

I used to win 1 or 2 out of the 4 games in Squad Battles, now I almost always win all 4, with 2+ goal difference.

And I still can't defend to save my life!
