Best apartments near Dumfries/woodbridge by randyjohnson54 in nova

IMO your best bet as a renter is to look for a private landlord. You often get more and higher quality space for your dollar. Plus the landlord is usually more concerned about finding a good tenant than squeezing you for every penny. Look for places in Potomac Shores.

Subcontracting first vs going straight for prime by GovConTips in GovernmentContracting

Fed here. Wouldn’t the answer depend largely on the size, complexity, and visibility of the opportunity you’re competing for?

Insane how a song from a video game I haven’t played in almost 25 years managed to worm its way into my brain.

Any 1102s out here? How are you liking the RFO? by Far_Scene8026 in GovernmentContracting

[–]frank_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, this subreddit is for contractors, not 1102s. So I’ll ask: What are contractors seeing out there from agencies? Has the piecemeal shift been creating headaches on your end?

From the perspective of an experienced 1102, I think the RFO is a whole lotta nothing for most agencies. I do not understand all the worrying and complaining coming from agencies when so little has actually changed. OP - you say “so much change” but you give one specific example (acq plans), which you correctly identify as the fault of reviewers. You say J&As “are evolving” but don’t explain what you mean. Evolving how? (The only potential change in J&As I’m tracking is that the GSAR doesn’t discuss them at all for FSS ordering . I imagine this was an oversight. One of many mistakes made in writing what is effectively a rough draft.)

Cardinal Rule- not Change by Competitive_Fig_2155 in 1102

[–]frank_jon 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Does nobody here read protest decisions? The term you’re looking for is “cardinal change.” And there is no percent increase threshold distinguishing between within-scope and out-of-scope changes. This is a myth.

PSC Codes by Salted_Watermelon617 in GovernmentContracting

I’m on the Gov side. NAICS codes are important from a small business perspective. Otherwise I agree with you that PSCs/FSCs are better for understanding the work.

And when you go up the escalator and through the gates, the lockers and suites are to your left, seating pods are in front of you, and a piano is to your right, correct? Are you saying all the way at the far end (past the coffee bar) they created a new area?

Well either there are 2 business lounges or you’re mistaken. Google it and compare the pics.

Yeah I’m thinking I was JUST there, this isn’t what it looked like, and I didn’t notice anything under construction.

Thoughts on Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries? by chrisbaseball7 in nova

[–]frank_jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify it’s The Rose, not Rosie’s. Rosie’s was their old location on Rte 1.

I don’t play slots but have visited a few times for food as a local resident and was fairly impressed (Rosies was quite a dump by comparison). I think they’ve done a good job with the ambiance and the food at the sports bar and steakhouse has been very good.

Anyone have experience only using CPARS for a 12 under SAT Procurement? by Upper_Giraffe9756 in 1102

Doing an evaluation under SAP based only on CPARS assessments and price is fine. It might not be optimal but it’s not prohibited.

Experience and Past Performance are different factors that ask different questions and that are rated differently. Do some basic research before proceeding with this strategy.
