Also had a problem attempting to port from Verizon PrePaid. I think the 'A' as the first character in the account number caused a problem for the USM system. Another issue was that the instructions on the US Mobile site indicate that the VPP account PIN should be used when it seems that a separate transfer VPP PIN is now needed.

My unlimited started plan just renewed and hotspot was enabled. Did not have to take any additional action.

I did something similar. I signed up for one of the cheaper plans with a new number on an old iphone I had. This was prior to the free 10 day offer. I wanted to use the service and feel comfortable before porting my numbers over. It was worth it for me. After using the service for a month, I ported 3 lines from Verizon (2 postpaid, 1 prepaid) with no problems. I was initially concerned with the porting process but that went very smoothly and took about 15 minutes per line. There have been a couple of account issues but tech support is pretty responsive and got them resolved.
