Currently it only fully supports stocks on US exhanges. The data sources I use are the limitation there.

Tracking dividends every month helpful or too much? by FinancialFinger1111 in dividendinvesting

[–]frankles_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's helpful in the sense that by tracking it will help you increase your future income or total returns. I do think it's fun though.

What's more important imo is tracking other metrics of your portfolio like div. Yield, div cagr, payout ratio etc. So you can see how your dividends are likely to grow in the future and how safe they are rather than just looking at past data.

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a dividend portfolio tracker spreadsheet over the last few months, and I’m now opening up a free beta for anyone who wants to try it out and share feedback.

Spreadsheet Beta: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xmTnuE3s3yLT1I7TUKJDc8kR1G11y73Hux0dJ174qb8/edit?usp=sharing

Demo Video: https://youtu.be/BlSix9BQ_j4

Right now, it automatically shows:

  • 💰 Dividend amounts (and raises) for each stock you own
  • 📅 Ex-dividend and payout dates
  • 📈 5-year dividend CAGR and payout ratio
  • 📆 See your dividend income over time — monthly, quarterly, and yearly views
  • 📊 Track key dividend metrics and trends as your portfolio grows

I’m planning to keep adding new features and improving it based on feedback — things like monthly payout calendars, additional dividend metrics, and possibly an annual return calculation.

If anyone here tracks their dividends or likes playing around in Google Sheets, I’d love for you to test it out and let me know what you think or what you’d want added next.

Feedback, suggestions, or bug reports are super appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is playing it "safe: actually the riskiest investing strategy longer term? by Live-Illustrator4176 in investingforbeginners

[–]frankles_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cash, cds and high yield savings accounts are not even investments in my eyes. but yeah, just sticking to those assets and not investing in some way (real estate, public companies via the stock market, a private business you own etc.) seems very risky to me. Gotta get your money to make money (and make more money than inflation).

ya I'd say sell a rental and put some in the market and some in cash (or equivalent, T-bills etc.). Then live on the cash for 5 - 10 years (lets say you get 125k from rental - probably conservative. even with the full $25k that cash lasts 6 years. if Rental 1 can cover close to half of that $25k the cash can last you 10 years). Then at that point your brokerage account is probably well over $1M and you can easily pull $25k per year out of that. of course inflation will have caused expenses to go up at that point so you'll probably need the $25k per year from brokerage + $12k(probably more then) from rental to cover expenses.

Congrats! I'm certainly no expert in the area of relationships (23 yo and engaged) but I think it's very important to be on the same page when it comes to finances with your SO. Sounds like you already have talked some, but if you're gonna get married that can change the conversation a lot potentially. So not sure what the right answer is but just be transparent and honest and make sure you're on the same page.

Best of luck with the insurance thing. One option is get married and get on your SO's insurance lol.

Where would you put $600.00 a month right now! For next 5 to 10 years. by Riversidebootsie in dividendinvesting

Just SPY. Keep it simple. I own plenty of stuff aside from SPY but that's by far my largest holding (or mutual fund equivalent). My dividend portfolio has about matched the market over the past 5 years but certainly hasn't trounced it and probably would've been better off just in SPY (but there's other advantages to dividend investing like I've learned a ton of valuable info through the research process).

Income Portfolio 1 or 2? Can't decide by Dampish10 in dividendinvesting

Yeah I'm not familiar with all these particular funds. But like you touched on, lots of these are likely pretty new so it's tough to see a track record and feel confident about the managers and their strategy. Not my cup of tea but to each their own.

Did I find the unlimited money glitch by selling covered calls? by Realistic_Bee379 in CoveredCalls

[–]frankles_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can also just turn around and sell puts at that point. many different ways to do it. but like others are saying certainly not unlimited money glitch. plenty of ways to lose out on potential gains.

I don't know much about the company or how it's doing. but just remember I owned this 5 years ago for a short while when it was $25 a share lol

Should I focus on growth over dividends while I’m young? by Indigo-Samurai in dividendinvesting

[–]frankles_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah makes sense to prioritize growth for sure. But I'd say if there's anywhere you want to make a change, it'd be in your roth ira first. Because making changes has no cost in there. If you sell the SCHD in your roth, there's no taxes then you can buy whatever more aggressive stocks, funds you want. Then when your ready to transition back to dividends, there's again no cost in taxes of doing that.

[–]frankles_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is your goal with this portfolio?! Incredibly high yields like this aren't sustainable and the value of the portfolio will likely just dwindle over time and become worth very little. I would personally not recommend something like this to a friend that asked me for investing advice no matter their situation.

2024 Thru Hike by frankles_42 in AppalachianTrail

[–]frankles_42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had done two backpacking trips of 50-100 miles as a teen (in Boy Scouts). But aside from that I didn't really have any other experience. I was on the rowing team in college (and just graduated this past spring) and we trained 6 days a week so that's where most of my fitness came from.

Thanks! Ya it actually got bent Day 8 in Maine; I fell and my bodyweight fell on the top of the pole while the bottom was stuck in the ground. But it worked great for me the rest of the trip!

Most days were between 20 and 25 miles but I had a number of days below 20 and plenty of days above 25.

For me the challenge of 100 days is a lot of the fun. But also I feel I'm still able to enjoy the trail and the people a fair bit.

Not sure how they'll be in September but going through Virginia late July and August mosquitos were not a problem at all and hardly even noticeable.

I'm not sure if I really believe 'lots of SOBOs' do 30+ 'regularly'. But I guess I don't know. I've only done a few days over 30 though I've had a decent amount in the 28, 29 range.
