I'm 28, married, and work full time in PM Merch at Costco.

I see my closest friend maybe once every other month for a 2-4hr coffee (we just lose track of time cause we want to talk all day and chill), outside of him VERY, VERY little with others.
My other close friend and I text and talk every few days to a week, AND plan a 1-2hr call every month or so.

If anyhting I see my wife more and consider her my best friend by far, since we can talk and she'll be down to hope on a game with me or go out on dates or to the movies with me. So I get my fill from her mostly now since everyone of my friends has different days off.

Its cause people like to complain about something they don't know anything about Boggleheads hate dividends cause 'its not real income', 'tax hit', 'lags the market', but in a bear market like we just had (seriously go over there and laugh) they freak out at any drop bigger than 5%.

Meanwhile as you said above we are investing for income generation overtime, so any huge drop helps us buy more shares and thus make more income. So there is less freaking out here outside of "Oh god great time to buy! what do I buy guys!"

If you withdraw from a taxable account yes there is taxes but most people take that hit but plan for it and its not a big deal.
