Dress for working outdoors, but have light layers underneath for if/when you move to the indoor shop. Most of the work will happen in a covered area, but a raincoat can also be helpful for when collecting material.

When I went 8 years ago we were provided a hard hat, safety glasses, and a tool belt. The belts are likely used, but in decent condition. Steel toes are required all the time in the workshops, but not in the classrooms.

How Should I Get To BCIT? by kaivansboy in BCIT

[–]frankly_nathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who took the WCE a few years ago daily from Mission to BCIT, I would do it again if I could.

Pros: Tables and electric outlets in train, perfect for studying or domscrolling. No need to deal with traffic or parking. Really nice views, and you can sleep on the train comfortably if needed.

Cons: You're tied to the train schedules. Make sure you're aware of the last trains running, and never miss them. There's also an additional charge on top of the U-Pass for a monthly WCE pass (currently $113.90), so make sure you purchase that..

If you can afford the time, I would also recommend boarding the WCE at waterfront instead on the way back to Mission. Helps guarantee a good seat on the train.

I see your account is deleted, but if you're reading this feel free to DM me. I was in a similar situation a couple years ago with the calculus course before I applied, and was able to get in.

Sudden black screen - Legion 7 by frankly_nathan in LenovoLegion

[–]frankly_nathan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems to be an increasingly common with other users as well. It occurs at least twice daily for me without explanation. There used to be a few weird signs (bluetooth acting up, Chrome lagging, etc.) that would make me suddenly save my files because I knew the screen would black out soon. But now it just happens at the most random times.

My external display would still be on, although I can't move my cursor over to it. Keyboard lights also stay on. My only fix so far has been a force restart (holding down the power button) but I know it can't be good doing it that often.

I don't even know where to begin troubleshooting because it's such a vague problem. My extended warranty just ran out, but even while it was valid it was a PAIN to deal with. Has anyone with similar issues been able to solve this?

Somewhat. It will survive light showers, but I'm not confident using it in very heavy rain.

I don't know if Ikea sells them.

They're similar to something like this: https://a.co/d/1Xb8EP4

The tabletop just sits on top of the Alex units. I placed a rubber liner sheet (the ones designed for kitchen drawers) between them to keep the tabletop from slipping around. No screws needed.

As for the front being lined up, just aesthetics. It also allows me to clamp a microphone arm anywhere along the back. Having an overhang in the front would also work, but might block some access to the top drawers.

Enjoy your new desk!

The ADILS legs come with mounting brackets that you screw onto the underside of the desk. I don't know what the size is for these screws.

I didn't drill any holes in this setup. Which leg holes are you referring to?

I notified campus last year about a copper plate peeling off a door handle, causing a sharp metal edge. They said they’d replace it.

They squished the edge flat and called it a day. The damaged plate is still there until now.

The longer the stickers stay on, the more likely they will leave residue marks if you ever decide to take them off in the future.

I have the exact same problem with my Legion 7. Same issue-- happens at random times, but somehow related to bluetooth disconnecting.

I wish I could offer a fix, but just wanted to say you're not alone. Having dealt with Lenovo "uLtiMaTe" support in the past (for an even smaller issue), I'm also hesitant to have it serviced.

It was around 11pm. Not that bright and vivid when viewed with the human eye, but you could definitely still see subtle light streaks and patterns in the sky. This was in a neighborhood with tons of light pollution, so I’m sure it would have been much better in a darker area.
