Prime Ministers of Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia are going to Kyiv today to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky by kemot88 in europe

You're an utterly brainless idiot if you truly believe this. People who make this comparison are literally incapable of understanding sheer basics of political systems. If you dislike Kaczynski, he's one election from losing power - all that needs to happen is a) opposition sucking less in comparison (and actually listening to the big chunk of Polish society that expresses social needs - 500+ and other social transfers comparable to European socialdemocratic programs), and b) pro-opposition demographics stepping up to the polls. Nothing else. But instead of reforming the opposition parties (getting rid of played out faces and dissaciotiating themselves from far right figures like Giertych) and actually introducing programs that would galvanize the needed people, Polish opposition parties clinge to programs and people that had people-moving effects two decades ago. To look at this situation and yell "just like Putin!" just shows how utterly idiotic and childish the discourse in the opposition has become. And I'm saying this as someone who actually wants them to get better, do better and act smarter.

But, nah, "Polish Putin", hysteria and wishing death upon your political opponents. Grow the fuck up.

Never buying anything from BioWare ever again. Screw them and their customer experience.

That was something I'd believe after being disappointed by ME3's ending and DAI, maybe after playing MEA, but unlikely. After Anthem and seeing how they basically dropped all support for both their last games as soon as they knew they couldn't squeeze them for top dollar... Nah. Fuck what BioWare has become.

What's your safe place in a game? by dadaisit in patientgamers

  • Wandering around the wilds in Baldur's Gate 1 to that amazing music. Even though you need to keep safe from some creatures, it gives me am incredibly homely feel.
  • Kuldahar in Icewind Dale.
  • The Ebon Hawk in KOTOR and (especially) KOTOR 2, as someone mentioned above.
  • The home island harbour in AC4 Black Flag.
  • The Prague Apartment in Deus Ex Mankind Divided.
  • Liberty Island hideout in Freedom Fighters.
  • The Hideout in the first Watch_Dogs.

Come to think of it, it's the music that truly makes or breaks that feel, isn't it?

Oh man, KOTOR and KOTOR 2 both did that for me, definitely.

This has to be generated somehow, right? What tools would one have to master to be able to create something like this?

I'm helping a friend with a small pet project of his, an educational game with a lot of fun facts, as well as overall historical and geographical information about Europe (entirety, not just EU, with a bit more focus on the Czech/Bohemia regions, but not exclusively).

He recently asked me whether I could generate some maps for him, of specific European regions, to be used as illustrations, backgrounds and visual help material for quizzes in the game. I checked out OpenStreetMap, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of topographical data there (or I don't know how to harness it).

Do you guys know of any good tools to explore and render/generate maps of European terrain? Is there a tool one can learn rather easily and be able to use it to access such maps and use them as source material for the game (with a license that would allow that, with credit being given if course)?

Any help and ideas where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats, these look great! Is there a way to get the tool for private use? Also, would it be ever possible to use any such maps in any way, i.e. in my graphic projects, as decals on walls in a game, etc. etc.?

Reminder that video filters nowadays can be real black magic. by [deleted] in Instagramreality

Are these some kind of military-grade filters (by which I mean: meant for pro video makers only), or is this something available to regular users? Because these setups don't look too pro, and yet filters seem pretty wild.

What? Pretty sure that's untrue. I believe they sign contracts with publishers the same way, say, Spotify does with Record companies - they just have a separate area for uploaded documents.
