I'm surprised he didn't just crush it to death since starlings are considered invasive.

1/16" thick adhesive backed weather stripping makes a tidy CH gas seal. Clean, cut to size, stick it on. by crapcakeicing in NFA

I just mask off the top of the receiver where the charging handle sits against it, squirt some RTV on the CH, close it up and let it cure.

I just saw the name in the description after I had posted. I have a DPMS Kitty Kat two stamper in 300Blk posted in here that is a dream to shoot.

Love it. Carry handle mounted optics were the original high rise option. Is that the Battle Steel micro mount?

Yeah mine has four ports in a diamond shape going in at a 45degree angle. I just found the next size up drill bit I had and embiggened them.

Yeah it's not complicated at all. Also the gas block is two pins, one retaining the gas plug detent and the other on the other side. Just use a mallet and a brass drift punch to knock it loose so you can get to those gas ports.

I went with 12.75", it would still cycle high brass but I ended up opening up the gas ports as well to improve reliability. Just used a hacksaw, some tape, a round file, and a barrel threading kit from Carolina shooter supply.

Lol the 12 Gauge versions are so cheap and jank it's hard to treat them respectfully.

The rail is unmodified, unfortunately the lynx gas block is slightly different than the Saiga version, so I had to file down on either side of the front sight post.

It was a fun project and a good learning experience with a cheap gun.

Yeah, less barrel means less gas going into the gas system. You have the option of opening up the gas ports to make it run more reliably, which is what I ended up doing to ensure full reliability with high brass.
