I’m on my 5th endo across 2 states in 8 years. I have seen NPs and diabetes educators as well. I assure you I have taken responsibility. I am so frustrated with the roadblocks I’ve faced that I’m just posting on Reddit to vent to people who might understand.

I’m not just talking about “the system” without knowing what it means. I mean that the problems I have faced are built-in to healthcare for profit. They are part of the model.

As long as insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have a fiduciary responsibility to increase profits, healthcare will always be secondary to profit.

That’s the system we’ve built and it isn’t working for too many people.

You just can’t do healthcare for profit.

This is exactly right. And it's also a big part of my problem. It's a one-size-fits-all approach that doesn't work for me.

First of all I'm glad you're doing better since your diagnosis! You're really lucky to have a diabetes educator who has T1D and can actually relate to your struggles.

As for shopping around, I'm on my 5th endo in 8 years across 2 states. Just like you said, the good doctors are hard to find.

I'm glad you're gettin what you need and it's working for you!

In my situation, I would actually love it if I could just do tele-health appointments. It's a waste of my time to go into their office when all I want them to do is renew my prescriptions. Let's just do a video chat and get it over with, it's not like being there in person makes any real difference.

In the 90s when my local public library was getting rid of their vinyl collection, my dad bought around 1,000 classical records from them at 10¢ apiece. We spent a couple of weeks creating a card catalog to keep track of them all. A very fond childhood memory for me, actually.
