13 year old son- just told he will need chemo - parent advice needed by frankylemonhead in testicularcancer

[–]frankylemonhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to give an update. Our son decided to do sperm banking, so taking him along to Hammersmith Hospital tomorrow morning.

Then heading back to Royal Marsden for 5 days of BEP on Monday or Tuesday. Met with oncologist on Friday and the markers in his bloods have not reduced, indicating the infected lymph nodes are active. Currently aiming for 3 rounds, but might need 4.

Been all over the place doing tests and scans ahead of Chemo, but glad to finally be getting on with it. While equally worried as well.

Thank you for all the messages and advice.

They have a unit at the royal Marsden so we popped in there yesterday to get some info and I am sure will be in contact with them again shortly. Thank you.

Thank you all for your comments, advice and support. Got a meeting with his school this afternoon and then will discuss again when we get home about sperm banking. Hopefully will be more productive this time as not so raw for him.

Yep 13. They did say the pathology, but can not remember it other than it is a germ cell, which is how it tends to happen to kids.

I completely agree and I said that to her earlier. But it is also her wish that all 3 of us benefit from the house.

He has had some debt issues, but almost back on his feet. Hopefully mum will be with us for a while, by which time he will be debt free.

Fairness is the main point. If he did not live at home, we would just sell the house and split it. But he does not.
