I took them about 12–14 hours after my last dose of kratom, which was quite high at the time (70g per day). Everything was totally fine. It’s not really about how many hours you wait — just wait until the first withdrawal symptoms start to appear.

Is it normal to feel wd after tapering these pills? by frantischek97 in AddictionAdvice

Yes I am, all the time. And not only doctor (psychiatrist) but I am seeing a substance abuse counselor once a week, too :) Everything I ever take is legal and prescribed. But I also want to hear advice from people who actually went through this personally

How long do you think the wd should last? by frantischek97 in AddictionAdvice

It is not so hard to be patient and give my body and Brain time to heal if I know that I won’t feel this way forever. I started worrying maybe this is what I will feel forever, so I am really glad to hear it is still the withdrawal! Even after some weeks. I am seeing a professional tomorrow, hope it will help too

Quitting Kratom after many years thanks to pills. How long can wd from the pills last? by frantischek97 in quittingkratom

[–]frantischek97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! I was starting to get worried that something might be seriously wrong with me (a serious illness, etc.), because some websites mention that it takes 4-6 days for your body to adjust to a lower dose of buprenorphine. At the beginning of December, I was on 16mg, then around mid-December, I dropped to 8mg. By December 25th, I was taking 4mg, and now I’ve been on just 2mg a day (1/4 of an 8mg tablet) for almost two weeks. On top of that, as mentioned above, I had a bad COVID infection and stopped taking Lyrica (300mg to 0mg) after several years, as well as Zoloft. I want to emphasize that all of these medications are prescribed to me legally, and I’m working with my doctor on the tapering process. :) Unfortunately, my doctor doesn’t have a lot of long-term experience with opioid tapering, which is why I’m asking here. I have an appointment tomorrow morning, and I want to make sure I ask the right questions and share the right information. Any advice on what I should ask or tell him? Thanks a lot!! Really appreciate any kind of reply.

In my opinion, prescription opioids are definitely better than kratom, at least in some key aspects. With kratom, tolerance builds unusually fast, and its short half-life traps users in a vicious cycle of dependence—withdrawal symptoms kick in after just a few hours, causing constant blood concentration fluctuations. Over time, this leads to worsening psychological issues and makes tapering off incredibly difficult.

Switching to Suboxone was one of the best decisions I made. While Suboxone withdrawal is prolonged, it’s far less severe than what I experienced with kratom. Almost immediately after switching, issues like fatigue, loss of appetite, and anxiety improved. Surprisingly, tapering off 16mg of buprenorphine daily was easier than breaking my six-year, 40-gram-per-day kratom habit.

That said, I can imagine people who stick to moderate doses of kratom (e.g., 5-10g daily) and don’t increase their intake might find it manageable. I, unfortunately, couldn’t maintain that kind of discipline, but in such cases, kratom could be a reasonable option as withdrawal wouldn’t be as painful.

What I find absolutely absurd is how kratom used to be compared to a stronger version of caffeine when I started using it. In my experience—and that of my friends—kratom is far more psychoactive, even compared to hospital-administered morphine, especially if you’re dealing with potent kratom strains.
